Spring is Here and the Nursery Is Filling Up!

With Some Very Cool Plants Too!

Polygala chamaebuxus grandiflora "Kamniski". With its sweet Kiminski "buttery' scent, it produces profuse flowers in late winter to very early spring, as early as January in the Seattle area. Paul says it is a "must have" for the winter garden. A central European alpine evergreen shrub, it its well suited for full sun or bright shade. "Kamniski" grows three to four inches high and spreads to two feet across.  Hurry, only a few left!
Hardy Gardenias. "Kleims Hardy" and "Frost Proof" Hardy gardenias are perfect for your Northwest gardens."Kleims" has glossy dark green foliage  with extremely fragrant flowers throughout spring and summer. Dwarf variety grows to 3 feet, evergreen and hardy to zero degrees. Great in containers, raised beds and in the front of borders.
Evergreen Clematis.  We have two great varieties of evergreen clematis: "Early Sensation" and "Clematis Armandii".  Amandii has large green leaves with extremely fragrant white flowers. Great for arbors, fences and privacy screens. Early Sensation creates masses of white flowers contrasting with its green leaves in spring and early summer. Good climber to 6 feet.
Blueberries:  Lots of blueberries. Check out our varieties: blueberries Northland, North Country, Northsky, Chippewa, Liberty, Legacy, Bluegold, Earliblue, and Pink Lemonade. Each year you will get more and more berries. Not only are they good for eating, they are also great plants in your garden, giving creamy white flowers in the spring and scarlet fall foliage.

Coming in April, May and June:

tomatoonvine

Our great collection of tomatoes. For you experienced early birds with greenhouses and enclosures, we will have some early tomato starts available in the next two weeks. But, do not let the big box stores fool you into direct planting outside yet! We are a least a month before the outside temperatures are consistently above 50 degrees at night and the soil warms up a bit.

Reminders
Plant your spring vegetables and start your seeds.  Clean and mulch your
Ed HUme Seeds
Gardeninbloomgarden beds. Other great projects for April still include cutting back old perennials, dividing those late blooming perennials, pruning and feeding your roses, hydrangeas, trees and shrubs. Another reminder, weeding now will save you tons of weeding time later.
