Greetings!
September is a great time to live in Texas! Football season is starting, hunting season is here and the State Fair of Texas is right around the corner! It really is the most wonderful time of year! A big thank you to everyone who came out for our first ever, Fall Organic Gardening Seminar. We had a great turnout, learned lots and will have beautiful, organic gardens gowning in no time flat! Now is the time to prepare your fall gardens. In the next couple of weeks our porch will be full of fall vegetable plants. Keep an eye on Facebook and we'll post when they arrive. I don't take the death of public personalities too hard. There are hundreds of folks all over the world that die every day. Most of them have become the best of the best in their life. They all deserve the same respect and reverence as any public figure. However, I think the death of Robin Williams has left a hole in the world. I will miss his work and remember him this way. Just an analog store in a digital world,

It's Back...The Cabbage Looper
One of the most annoying critters we fight in the cool weather is the Cabbage Looper. A green inch worm looking bug that loves leafy plants. They can be very damaging but they are also easy to control. You need to inspect the garden to identify the problem before they get out of hand. The farmers call this crop inspection, ... Control Garden Pests With Beneficial Nematodes
Did you have issues with squash bugs, squash vine bores, cucumber beetles or root nematodes this past spring? Taking a page from Sun Tzu's Art of War, and attack them when they are at their weakest which would be in dormancy. The weapon to use against these destructive pests are beneficial nematodes. A Little September History
All these events happened in September. Some long ago and some in recent history. September 1, 1985 - Dr. Robert Ballard found the wreck of the Titanic off the coast of Newfoundland. September 2, 1864 - General William T. Sherman and his army, during the American Civil War, captured Atlanta. "Atlanta is ours, and fairly won," was telegraphed to President Lincoln. September 4, 1886 - The last major U. ... Read More » |
