February 2014

Dear

We admit that we're cheerleaders in the fight against pressure ulcers. There's nothing we'd love more than to see across the board reductions in prevalence. We look forward to a day when pressure ulcers are a thing of the past.

Unfortunately, we're not there yet. This month's article shows that pressure ulcers are still very much today's problem. There's no silver bullet, and there are no simple answers.

That having been said, we'd like to make one part of your protocol simpler. The Heelift® Glide is an effective offloading device that moves with the patient rather than moving on the patient.

The durable exterior cover allows the boot to move easily over the sheets and under the blankets no matter how that patient is positioned. The forefoot strap keeps the boot firmly in place. The laboratory-tested superior microclimate present in all Heelift boots means a more comfortable boot that keeps moisture away, protecting skin from breakdown.

We think the Heelift Glide is a great addition to your heel pressure ulcer prevention and treatment protocol. Click the link below to request your free trial and see for yourself.

We'd love to hear your thoughts. So many of you have written us from these newsletters to request a sample, please drop us a line at this address to tell us what you think. Haven't seen a sample? Use the link below to request one now.

Sincerely,

The overall aim of this study was to describe preventive interventions among persons with pressure ulcer (PU) in three nationwide PU prevalence surveys in Sweden.

Using a cross-sectional research design, more than 70,000 persons from different hospitals and nursing homes participated in the three prevalence surveys conducted
in March 2011, October 2011 and March 2012. The methodology used was that recommended by the European Pressure Ulcers Advisory Panel.
