E-Newsletter of Simon Kenton High School

Dear (Contact First Name),

Welcome back from Spring Break!

It is now official.  Graduation will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 9 AM at BBT Arena on NKU's campus.  Please make plans to attend and celebrate this achievement with our students.

A big thank you to all who donated and packed mac & cheese meals. SK student volunteers packed a whopping $21,600 meals. These will go to our Youth Service Center and other local food banks.  Thanks to Therese Dukes and NHS for their hard work!

SK is looking for parents to serve on a committee to elect parent members for the SBDM Council.  If you are interested in serving on the committee please contact Beth Hellmann at bethh@twc.com.

SK students interested in or planning on attending the Kenton County Academies of Innovation and Technology (KCAIT):
OPEN HOUSE on April 21
6-8 PM @ The Edgewood Campus

Come ask questions and meet teachers/potential classmates!

Parents:
When dropping students off in the morning or picking up in the afternoon, please use the driveway in front of school.  Please do not drop off and pick up in the student or faculty parking lots.  This causes a danger to our student drivers and staff and congests our traffic pattern.  Also please be aware of students and staff crossing the driveway and those directing traffic. Student safety is most important to us.  Thanks in advance for your assistance with these very busy times of the day.

IMPORTANT NOTICE . . . 2016 Yearbooks are now available only as the supply lasts.  April 15 was the last day to guarantee a yearbook order.

BASS FISHING TEAM
The SK bass fishing team has started and is learning. The team fished one  tournament at Kentucky Lake with the top boat finishing 19th out of 117 boats.

The team is looking for local lakes and farm ponds that you would grant permission to fish for practice and tournament seeding.  All fishing would be catch and release. The team is willing to earn permission through conservation activities or acts of stewardship. All students are covered by Student Angler Insurance and family insurance and will be supervised by coaches.

In addition to looking for practice ponds and lakes, the team is also looking for bass boat sponsors. The boats are not to be captained by the student anglers, but by the owner or other participant willing to complete a free
background check through the Kenton County School District.  Boats are needed for local lake and river practice fishing and all day state tournaments.
The boat must be currently registered, at least 16 ft. in length and have an aerated live well capable of holding 5 fish. Boat sponsors may not fish during competition.  If it were a local event, such as practice or team only event, the boat sponsor may participate in fishing.

This is a great opportunity to spend some time on the water and be an active member of the SK community.   If you are interested, contact  Matt Archer 960-0105,  Adam Klaine 960 -0285 or Brad Walker at 960-0201.
