REGIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Both the men's and women's basketball teams won the 32 District Tournament last week and advance to regional games this week.
The women's team plays Collins on March 1 @ 8 PM in the first round of the 8th Regional Tournament. The game is at Shelby County High School
The men's basketball team plays Collins on March 2 @ 6 PM in the first round of the 8th Regional Tournament @ Henry County High School.
ATTENTION 8TH GRADE PARENTS . . . 8th Grade Parent Night will be Monday, 3.14. Self-guided tours begin @ 6:30 PM. The presentation begins @ 7 PM in the auditorium.
CINDERELLA'S CLOSET . . . Do you have prom dresses, formal high-heeled shoes, formal jewelry or purses sitting in your closet? If so, please donate them to Cinderella's Closet. This organization provides formal wear and accessories to young women who could otherwise not afford to attend prom. This year, Cinderella's Closet will make prom a reality for 450 girls! SK's National Honor Society is sponsoring a dress and accessory drive through 3.2.16. Bring your items to Room 130. All donations are tax deductible. www.cinderellasclosetusa.org
SK grad Angie Gillespie [Class of 1996] still needs our help.
She has written a jingle for J. G. Wentworth's "shot at the spot" jingle writing competition. She's currently in 2nd place and could use some SK family votes. You can vote once a day.

32nd District Basketball All-Tourney
Men's: JC Hawkins, Michael Sammons, Austin Fries (MVP)
Women's: Madi Meier, Kendyl Gilliam, Ally Niece (MVP)
ARCHERY TEAM The archery team will have a Skyline Fundraiser on 3.8.16 from 5-8 PM at the Independence Skyline. For the flyer, click here.
WRESTLING TEAM
SK senior Blake Powell was awarded the KHSAA Above and Beyond Award at the KHSAA State Championship Wrestling Tournament this past weekend. The award is given to a participant at each KHSAA championship event and awarded from the pool of candidates nominated by participating school representatives. The award is based on five attributes: citizenship, leadership, athletics, sportsmanship and scholarship.

GET INVOLVED! SK Clubs, Groups & Athletics
BLOOD DRIVE The annual Hoxworth Blood Drive for students over the age of 16 and meeting the requirements will be Thursday, 3.24.16. All students are required to have parent permission slips to donate and will need to show their driver's licenses.
We will begin sign ups the week of 3.14.16 in Room 207. See Miss Hoerlein with questions.
CAPPIES will meet Monday, February 29 in Room 214B for group picture and work on 8th grade parent night.
CROCHET & KNITTING CLUB
New and experienced people are welcome to join the group after school on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Bring your yarn, crochet hooks and knitting needles!
FRESHMAN-SOPHOMORE DANCE The Freshman-Sophomore Dance will be Friday, April 1 from 8-11 PM. The theme is 007. (James Bond/Secret Agent).
Tickets will be on sale in March. More details will follow closer to the event.
STUDENT COUNCIL will meet the first and second Thursday of every month throughout the school year in the Library Media Center from 2:40 - 3:30. ALL grades are welcome. See Miss Hoerlein in Room 207 if you have questions.
PIONEER PRIDE meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month. New members are ALWAYS welcome.
GUITAR CLUB will meet from 2:45-3:45 PM every last Wednesday of the month in the chorus room. Anyone interested in playing or learning to play the guitar is welcome to attend. Next meeting is Wednesday, February 25. BOOK CLUB will meet on 2.26 to discuss The Nazi Hunters by Neal Bascomb

AP EXAM REGISTRATION
ends on Thursday, 3.3 @ 11 PM. Please visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/181255 to register. To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the PDF of the confirmation page provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered. A credit card or debit card is needed to register. If students have questions, see Ms. Back.
Good news about SCHOLARSHIPS:
There are several new scholarships available for seniors. Applications and information can be found in the scholarship drawer located in the Guidance Office. During the spring semester these opportunities will come in frequently, so please encourage your students to continue checking for them.
