Winter Break begins Saturday, December 19.  Students return to school on Monday, January 4.  Simon Says is on break until January 4. 
The staff @ Simon Kenton wishes our students and their families a very safe and spectacular Winter Break!


OPEN ENROLLMENT - SK will be accepting OPEN ENROLLMENT applications starting December 14 and ending January 15.
 
Applications will be dated and should there be a "numbers" issue, they will be considered for approval in date of receipt order.  Please be sure to complete the application, including the back side, and both a parent and the student need to sign. 
 
Applications will not be dated as received or accepted for consideration until it is fully complete.

The SK Bowling team is sponsoring a Skyline Chili Fundraiser on 12.16 at the Independence location. Click here for the flyer.

David Sandlin, Dillon Powell and Tucker Mueller were selected to play in the Kentucky Football Coaches Association "Best of the Bluegrass" All-Star football game.
 
Dillon Powell was named KSR (Kentucky Sports Radio) Class 6A player of the year.
 
Dillon Powell and Tucker Mueller were honored on December 9 at the NKY Football Coaches Association Top 26 banquet as 2 of the Top 26 players in NKY.

GET INVOLVED!  SK Clubs, Groups & Athletics 
 
 
STUDENTS INTERESTED IN AN INTERNATIONAL FIELD should see Miss Hoerlein for details about an opportunity to network with professionals who work internationally.
   
STUDENT COUNCIL will meet the first and second Thursday of every month throughout the school year in the Library Media Center from 2:40 - 3:30. ALL grades are welcome.  See Miss Hoerlein in Room 207 if you have questions.
 
GUITAR CLUB will meet from 2:45-3:45 PM every last Wednesday of the month in the chorus room.  Anyone interested in playing or learning to play the guitar is welcome to attend.

ART CLUB meets on Mondays in the art room from 2:30-4 PM every other week.  Listen to the announcements for updates.  $5 dues are to be turned in at the meeting.

Do you enjoy fishing for competition?  See Mr. Archer in Room 105 for more information about joining the FISHING CLUB.

REGISTER AS A BONE MARROW DONOR drive.  If you had a chance to save a life, would you? 

You must be 18 to register.

We will be at the Friday, December 18 basketball game beginning at  6:00 PM. See Miss Hoerlein with questions.


COUNSELING CORNER
 
Dr. Charles Lindeman is now available to meet and provide therapeutic services @ SK to students with private insurance. If you are interested in your student participating in school-based therapy, contact Susan Back, 859-960-0227 or susan.back@kenton.kyschools.us for more information.

Step-Up is a summer internship program that offers 8 weeks of full-time research experience in a scientific lab. Selected from over 300 students nationwide, 100 will be awarded this opportunity to participate. There is a $2,200.00 stipend, a trip to Washington D.C. in August to present findings at the National Institute of Health and an educational experience that is invaluable.
