Greetings!


THE ACT IS SATURDAY.  Students should make sure they arrive by 7:30 AM and HAVE AN ACT-APPROVED ID WITH THEM!  No students will be admitted without an acceptable ID and admission ticket. Students are also not permitted to have cell phones in the testing rooms. Don't forget to get a good night's sleep AND EAT BREAKFAST!!!!!!!

Due to circumstances beyond control of the chorus classes, the concernt scheduled for 12.7 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled later in the school year.

Credit Recovery takes place every Tuesday and Thursday after school in Lab 346 until 3:30 PM.   Please see Mrs. Jones in Room 350 before or after school if you have any questions.

TEAM UPDATES
ACADEMIC TEAM . . . The academic team competed in the Northern Kentucky Academic League tournament on Saturday. The tournament brought together 19 of the top teams in Boone, Kenton, Campbell and Pendleton Counties. We had a very good day overall, with the following students placing:
 
Quick Recall Team: 2nd place overall
Chelsea Russell: 4th place Math, 4th place Arts and Humanities
Emily Girard: 3rd place Language Arts, 6th place Arts and Humanities
Nicholas Griffey: 2nd place Social Studies
Sam Roberts: 3rd place Social Studies
Emily Popham: 9th place Language Arts

The academic team defeated Scott 42-9 last Tuesday. Leading scorers were Emily Girard with 12 and Chelsea Russell with 9.


SWIM TEAM . . . Congratulations to the men's and women's swim teams. On Wednesday they won the December Invite Meet.
 
The women finished 3rd overall. The men's team finished 3rd overall and both teams combined to finish 1st out of nine teams.

WINTER GUARD  Anyone interested in joining winter guard needs to stop by Room 209 for more information. Practices begin 12/2
There will be a parent meeting on 12/9 @ 6 PM in the band room.

WOMEN'S TENNIS  Any 7-9th grade girl interested in playing tennis for SK should contact Coach Gilbert.

STUDENTS INTERESTED IN AN INTERNATIONAL FIELD should see Miss Hoerlein for details about an opportunity to network with professionals who work internationally.
   
STUDENT COUNCIL will meet the first and second Thursday of every month throughout the school year in the Library Media Center from 2:40 - 3:30. ALL grades are welcome.  See Miss Hoerlein in Room 207 if you have questions.
 
GUITAR CLUB will meet from 2:45-3:45 PM every last Wednesday of the month in the chorus room.  Anyone interested in playing or learning to play the guitar is welcome to attend.

ART CLUB meets on Mondays in the art room from 2:30-4 PM every other week.  Listen to the announcements for updates.  $5 dues are to be turned in at the meeting.

Do you enjoy fishing for competition?  See Mr. Archer in Room 105 for more information about joining the FISHING CLUB.

Keep Calm And Love Dodgeball Poster Art
DODGEBALL!

Pioneer Pride Spirit Club is hosting a Dodgeball Tournament on Monday, 12.21.15 from 10 AM -3 PM.

Price is $10 per person. Teams are up to 6 people over the age of 12. At least one player on each team must be female. Players must have a physical form dated no earlier than 12/21/14 to play. 

Physical forms and team applications are outside Room 207 and should be turned in with all players' money (together in one sum) by 12.11.15. You are guaranteed at least two games.

Dr. Charles Lindeman is now available to meet and provide therapeutic services @ SK to students with private insurance. If you are interested in your student participating in school-based therapy, contact Susan Back, 859-960-0227 or susan.back@kenton.kyschools.us for more information.

Step-Up is a summer internship program that offers 8 weeks of full-time research experience in a scientific lab. Selected from over 300 students nationwide, 100 will be awarded this opportunity to participate. There is a $2,200.00 stipend, a trip to Washington D.C. in August to present findings at the National Institute of Health and an educational experience that is invaluable.
 
Applications will be accepted through 2.15.16
