SIMON SAYS
E-Newsletter of Simon Kenton High School

Schools are successful because of teamwork among faculty, staff, students, parents and community.

So PARENTS . . . we need your help.

The first volunteer opportunity is assisting with school picture days on 9/3 and 9/11.  If you want to help with picture day, please contact Tiffany Burris.

The next opportunity is with the SK PTSA (Parent-Teacher-Student Association), which is seeking four parents to serve on the PTSA Board. The commitment is small -- only 4-5 meetings throughout the school year, as well as other activities like PTSA events supporting SK.  Contact Tara Snellings (859.816.3818) if you would be willing to help.

New Teacher Feature:  MARILYN DRAUD

[We will be introducing our new teachers weekly in Simon Says.]

MARILYN DRAUD, the newest member of the business department, grew up in Northern Kentucky and has lived here her entire life.  She's a '78 SK grad and is excited to be part of the Pioneer family again.  "I feel like I've come back where I started," she commented.

Three generations of Draud's family graduated from SK. "My father was in the first graduating class at Simon Kenton and both of my sons graduated from SK, too."

In her 20-year teaching career, Draud taught at Summit View Middle School, Woodland Middle School, Highlands High School and Dixie Heights High School.  Her favorite thing about teaching is when students learn something new and are truly excited about it."

Little known facts about Mrs. Draud?  Her passions in life are family and travel.  She loves to bike, hike and do Pilates.

WELCOME [BACK] TO SK, MRS. DRAUD!
