Congratulations to Courtney Morgan -- NKU Poetry Award Winner

TRACK AND FIELD

This past Saturday, the men's and women's track & field teams competed at the KHSAA Region 5 AAA championships at Campbell County.  Both teams finished in 4th place.

Sophia Deliso was regional champion in the 3200 run (and ranked 4th in the state).  Logan Winkler was the regional long jump and regional triple jump champion
.  Conner Edwards was the regional runner-up in the pole vault.  Tucker Mueller was the regional runner-up in the shot put.  The 4 X 800 relay team of Meredith Hiles, Sophia Deliso, Mackenzie Lachmann and Anja Arlinghaus were also regional runners-up.  All of these athletes automatically qualified to compete on 5.23.15 at the KHSAA State Championship at UK.

The following athletes qualified with "at-large" bids to compete at State:
Kam Powell (discus), Sophia Deliso (1600), Mackenzie Lachmann (1600), Meredith Hiles (800), Conner Edwards (110 Hurdles), Kailan Frazier (pole vault), Logan Winkler (high jump), Tucker Mueller (discus), Grant Vercheak (discus), Adam Myers/Jordan Butler/Dylan Hampton/Logan Winkler (4 X 100 relay).

KBEA COMPETITION    Nathan Bishop entered the KBEA (KY Business Education Association) Keyboarding Contest and won.  He keyed 116 words per minute.  There were 61 entries from 15 schools throughout Kentucky.  Nathan won a $50 iTunes gift card for his category and  a $25 iTunes gift card for being the overall winner.  He is also invited to Louisville July 22 to accept his award at the CTE (Career and Technical Education) Conference.


Congratulations to the SK Concert and Symphonic Bands!  They competed in the Music in the Parks Concert Festival at Loveland High School. The Symphonic Band finished first in their class with the Concert Band coming in second.  The Symphonic Band also won Best Overall High School Band for the competition. Great job, SK Bands!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES  Piner Elementary School is requesting students to participate in creating a garden. Students are needed 5/26 from 3:45 to 4:45. If you are interested in participating, stop by the guidance office to sign up.
 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES   Piner Elementary is in the process of planning the Summer Learning Program and needs volunteers from SK who may be interested in helping out for volunteers hours or a college resume boost.  The dates are every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from June 9 - July 2 from 9 AM - Noon. See Mrs. Back in the counseling office if you are interested in volunteering.
