Proud of Our Pioneers

Congratulations to the Indoor Percussion and Winter Guard on their performances this past weekend at Hamilton High School.  The Winter Guard finished 6th out of 13 groups in their class and the Indoor Percussion came in 1st place in their class.  Congrats to both groups!  The next competition is February 14 at Bellbrook High School.  The tentative schedule is Guard performing at 7:07 PM and Percussion at 8:56 PM.

Send Girl Scout Cookies to Our Soliders

This Valentine's Day, show your love for our soldiers by donating change at lunch to Student Council, who will use this money to send Girl Scout cookies to soldiers serving overseas.

If you donate a dollar you will be entered into the raffle to pie a teacher in the face at the February pep rally.

Women's Soccer Conditioning

There will be conditioning for the women's soccer team Tuesdays and Thursdays starting this week on  February 10

All those interested should meet outside Room 247 dressed appropriately and ready to work out next Tuesday from 2:45 to 3:45 PM.

The men's bowling team is Region 5 champions and the women's team is Region 5 runners-up. Both teams advance to the state tournament.  This is the first state appearance for the women's team.  The men's team defeated Campbell County and the women's team lost to Highlands in the finals.

 

Senior Brian Fecher and 8th grader Jonathan Cummins will bowl in the state singles on Thursday, February 12 @ 10 AM.  The team state tournament is Friday, February 13 @ 8 AM (women's) and 1 PM (men's).  Good luck to both teams!

LIVING GIFTED   

Please join the Nu Kappa Chapter and the NKU Counseling Program at 

NKU on Saturday, February 23 for a workshop for gifted youth, their families and teachers.
 

This workshop will be led by Dr. Tracy L. Cross, Executive Director for the 

Center for Gifted Education at the College of William and Mary.  Dr. Cross 

will speak to parents, school personnel, gifted intervention specialists and 

helping professionals about the social and emotional needs of gifted children, while counselors in training will provide breakout group sessions for youth of all ages.  For registration: click here

Freshman-Sophomore Dance

The Freshman Sophomore Dance will be Thursday, March 12 @ SK from 8-11 PM. The theme is "A Starry Night."
Tickets will go on pre-sale during lunch for $10 from Tuesday, March 3 - Tuesday, March 10.
 

If students plan to bring a high school guest from another school, they can pick up the guest form outside room 207. The dance is semi-formal. See Miss Hoerlein or Miss Lewis with any questions.

Opportunities for Students
WORLD LANGUAGES  The World Language Club will be having a Carnaval celebration after school on Tuesday, February 17. All students are welcome, the cost to attend will be $3.

NEED SERVICE HOURS?  St. Patrick Church on Mills Road in Independence needs assistance during the Lenten season with the Friday fish fry. 
Shifts begin at 4 PM and conclude through clean-up.  Hours can be split.

Association of the United States Army

The Major Samuel Woodfill Chapter 

2015 Scholarship Program

 

The Major Samuel Woodfill Chapter announces its 2015 Scholarship Program for Children and Spouses of U.S. Army Soldiers in the Global War on Terrorism,  Army Soldiers and Army Veterans who are currently serving or have served in the Global War on Terrorism, and Family Members of AUSA Members who belong to the Major Samuel Woodfill Chapter in that priority. Also priority is given to residents of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.  $1,500 scholarships will be awarded for the 2015-2016 academic year. The scholarship program is available to first-time freshman and returning college students. The scholarship can be used for tuition and fees, and room and board.
