National Red Ribbon Week begins Monday, October 27. To kick off this annual drug prevention and awareness event, Teen Leadership Club and Student Council members will be handing out bracelets during SKORE on Monday. Please encourage students to wear their bracelets all week. Students "caught" wearing their bracelets will be rewarded!

Also, TLC will have a table set up during lunch Tuesday through Friday to give out prizes and information about being drug free. On Friday, students will be able to take a pledge to "Plant the Promise" to be drug free and prevent bullying - red tulip bulbs will be planted to represent Simon Kenton students who take the pledge.

DID YOU KNOW....Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don't, yet only a quarter of teens report having these conversations. (http://redribbon.org/about/)

Academic Team Update

The academic team placed 2nd at the Louisville Fall NAQT Tournament on Saturday. Highlights included a win over perennial state powerhouse duPont Manual and a dominant win over Eastern High School in which the Pioneers led 365-0 at one point. SK was the highest-placing team from Kentucky, losing only a tough 2 out of 3 matches to Sidney (OH). This performance earns the team a bid to the High School National Championship Tournament in Chicago in May. Please congratulate these team members:

Tristan Feinauer
