GIRLS' BASKETBALL TOY COLLECTION . . .
 
The girls basketball team will be assisting Grant Co. Middle & High Schools with a fundraiser to collect toys for patients at Children's Hospital who cannot come home for the holidays.

The team will begin collections of toys on November 13 and collect until Wednesday, December 11.  Toys must be new and unwrapped.  Toys can be for any age -- male or female.  Drop donations to Ms. Wendeln in Room 129 or in the main office.

BOOK CLUB    Are you a reader?  Join the Kentucky Bluegrass Awards Book Club and read/discuss some great young adult books with other students.  See Mrs. Moore for more information or check this link.
  
BOWLING TEAM  Practices are Mondays  from 6-8 PM and matches on Thursdays from 3:15-6 PM.
 

BRIDGE CLUB   The "Bridge" is a club at SK devoted to bridging the gap between our friends with disabilities and YOU!  Please come and learn about how to get involved with Bridge. DIVERSITY CLUB  This month the Diversity Club's goal is to help students understand the tradition and culture that makes SK a unique and great school.  

 

FIRST PRIORITY (formerly "FISH") meets every Thursday after school in the chorus room from 2:45-3:30 PM.  

 

GUITAR CLUB  Guitar Club meets on the last Wednesday of the month from 2:45-3:30 PM.   

 

JAM-C CLUB   Jam-C meets in Room 209 the 1st & 4th Thursdays of the month. 
 

MARCHING BAND

November 2 @ Mid-States Championships @ Northmont HS  
 

NHS   Yearly NHS dues are $15.  The deadline for paying is October 31. 
 

PIONEER PRIDE Pioneer Pride Pep Club meets the second Thursday of every month.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL  The next Student Council meeting will be Wednesday, November 20 from 2:40-3:30. New members are welcome.  

 

TEEN LEADERSHIP CLUB  TLC meets every Thursday after school in Room 311 until 3:30 PM.

GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS (GSA)

Kentucky High School Sophomores and Juniors: Governor's School for the ARTS is now accepting application through December 31.

ARTSHOPS
 
Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is holding statewide ArtShops for high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors throughout Kentucky.

 

 

ArtShops are designed to give students the opportunity to participate in a hands on workshop in their chosen art form. Students who are interested in applying to the GSA summer program are highly encouraged to attend an ArtShop to better prepare then for the audition/review process in March. GE-REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 

This program annually awards roughly 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships.  For more information:  www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships

SK Band is conducting a holiday sale which includes Yankee Candles,
fruit, wreaths and kettle corn.

BAND UPDATE

The SK marching band recently competed in the championships @ Northmont High School near Dayton, Ohio, placing 9th out of 21 bands. 

The band qualified for the finals and jumped two positions to finish 7th overall in Class AA.  Only two Kentucky bands qualified for the finals.  CONGRATULATIONS!

BOWLING UPDATE

In the first match of the season, the Pioneers battledf the Rebels of Boone County.  The boys took the match with top scores from AJ Crone  (247 218), Casey Mangold (212, 203), Cody Hail (197, 234) and Jonathan Cummins (233). 

 

The girls lost their match, but with a great effort against a tough Boone County team.  Alyssa Hoffman (150) and Ellen Warning (136) were high scorers.
