MRS. SETTERS SAYS . . . A special message from Principal Martha Setters about SK's recently-released test scores:

  

I am very pleased with our academic progress this past

school year.  SK increased in all areas (Achievement, Gap, Growth, College and Career, Readiness and Graduation Rate).  We were able to exceed our Annual Measurable Objective, as well.  Therefore, SK is now classified as a Proficient School.  You may view the school report card on the KDE website. 

 

Way to go PIONEERS!  I am so proud of you!

 

It won't be long until FALL BREAK.  Mark your calendars:
NO SCHOOL October 11 - October 14.

  

Wear pink on Tuesday, October 8 to support breast cancer
awareness. 
It is also boys' soccer senior night and Volley for
a Cure. Come out and support a team on October 8.

BOWLING TEAM  Tryouts for bowling are October 3 (6-8 PM), October 8 (5-7 PM) and October 9 (7-9 PM).  Email questions to Coach David Hampton:dhamp911@yahoo.com . Tryouts are free and held at Super Bowl in Erlanger for both Boys and Girls Teams, Bowling balls and shoes are available. Have to attend at least 1 of the sessions. Tryouts are open to any middle or high school student.  The season runs from October-February. Practices are Mondays  from 6-8 PM and matches on Thursdays from 3:15-6 PM.
 

BRIDGE CLUB   The "Bridge" is a club at SK devoted to bridging the gap between our friends with disabilities and YOU!  Please come and learn about how to get involved with Bridge. For more information, contact Eric Northrup (462.1013) or nkycapernaum@gmail.com.  Get updates by liking SK Bridge Club on Facebook.  Next Buddy Meeting is October 14 @ 2:35 PM in the LMC. 

 

FIRST PRIORITY (formerly "FISH") meets every Thursday after school in the chorus room from 2:45-3:30 PM. 

 

FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUBS  Spanish & French Clubs will meet in Room 314 immediately after school on Thursday, October 3. We will be planning our very first lesson to use with the students at Kenton Elementary. Please have some specific activities in mind. 

 

GUITAR CLUB  Guitar Club meets on the last Wednesday of the month from 2:45-3:30 PM. 

 

JAM-C CLUB   Jam-C meets in Room 209 the 1st & 4th Thursdays of the month. 

 

MARCHING BAND

Congratulations to the SK Marching Band on another great competition. The band traveled to Bellevue High School to compete in the Bellevue Invitational and finished in 2nd place by .1. The band was also awarded best visual and best guard in class AA. 

 

This Saturday, the band will be hosting the 3rd Annual SK Marching Band Classic.  This will be an all day event starting @ 11 AM and ending at 10 PM.  Parking on campus will be at a premium.  We are asking that you please use the parking spaces behind the baseball field for your parking that day.

NHS   Yearly NHS dues are $15.  The deadline for paying is October 31. 
 

PIONEER PRIDE Pioneer Pride Pep Club meets the second Thursday of every month. Next meeting will be October 10. We will be preparing for the pep rally. Everyone is welcome. 

 

STUDENT COUNCIL  The next Student Council meeting will be Thursday, October 24 due to Halloween.  All grade levels should attend. New members are welcome. Meet in the LMC at 2:40. 

 

TEEN LEADERSHIP CLUB  TLC meets every Thursday after school in Room 311 until 3:30 PM.
 
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS   Do you love horses and helping people?  Do you need service hours?  Milestones is a therapeutic riding program that helps kids with disabilities.  For more information, email Natalie Hall or call Milestones @ 859.694.7669.  

 

WRESTLING  There is a mandatory parents meeting on Monday, October 7 @ 6 PM.  Contact Coach Gilbert for additional information.

Congratulations to the SK Marching Band for placing 2nd in their class @ the Kings' High School Competition.  The color guard received 1st place and also Best Visual in their class.
 
Will Leanhart was named to the Freshman All-Tourney Team during Freshman Regionals.
 
Brennan Kuntz was nominated for the WCPO Player of the Week for his performance in the Conner game.
  
The Varsity Football Team was nominated for the Gold Star Chili Team of the Week after their big win over Conner.
  
Volleyball player Sophie Dunn was named as the MaxPreps/AVCA 
Kentucky Player of the Week.
