Parent-Teacher Conference/Open House will be Tuesday,
September 24 from 4-7 PM.

MAPS TESTING  During the month of September, your child will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress™ (MAP).

We give students MAP tests to determine your child's instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year and from year-to-year in the areas of reading, language usage, mathematics and science.

All 9th and 10th grade students will take each of the 4 parts of this test on various days between September 5 and September 24.   For further questions, please contact Michelle Hickey at 960-0115.

PICTURE MAKEUP DAY IS OCTOBER 17.

FROM THE DISTRICT NURSE . . . The Northern Kentucky Health Department has asked the KCSD to inform parents and guardians
that they are seeing an increased number of Pertussis (whooping cough) cases reported in the Northern Kentucky area.  Pertussis
is a contagious disease that can be spread in settings where people are in close contact.

The early cold-like symptoms of Pertussis progress to a persistent cough that won't go away and worsens with time, including explosive bursts of coughing, vomiting after a coughing episode, a high pitched "woop" at the end of a coughing episode and

low-grade fever.

If your child exhibits any of these symptoms please contact your medical provider.

The best way to prevent Pertussis is by vaccination, which is why
it is important for schools to have the proper, up-to-date immunization information for children.  The Northern Kentucky Health Department recommends the Tdap vaccine for adults who work in areas of close contact and for parents of small children.

This vaccine can be obtained from the health department for $4,
if your health care provider is unable to provide it.  For more information, visit
http://www.nkyhealth.org/Pertussis-Fact-Sheet.aspx . Please contact the Health Department at 859-363-2072 with any additional questions or concerns.
