PROM TICKETS are now on sale from April 17-24 in front of the cafeteria.  Cost is $45 per ticket.  If you are bringing a non-SK
student as a date, you must fill out a guest form (located outside Room 203).  Court voting will take place April 29-May 1 in front of
the cafeteria.  PROM IS SATURDAY, MAY 4 at Coney Island's Moonlight Pavilion.
 
HEART SCREENING  . . . SK is proud to partner with Cameron's
Cause to offer free cardiac screenings on May 8 for SK students. 
Students must have a parental consent signed and turned in to be eligible for this screening.  If you have any questions or would like
to schedule a time for your child to participate, please contact
Laura Batson at 496.6805 or visit

SPORTS PHYSICALS . . . SK's annual pre-participation physicals will be May 15 @ 6 PM in the main gym.  The cost is only $15 and is
open to any student athlete grades 7-12.  Checks may be made
out to "Simon Kenton High School Athletics."

Dance Team Tryouts . . . Next clinic is April 17 from 3-5 PM in the cafeteria. Required tryout clinics are  May 7-9 from 3-6 PM in the cafeteria.  Final tryouts are May 10 @ 5 PM.  $15 nonrefundable registration fee.  Contact Lacey Carter for more info:  carterlace3@gmail.com
 
The Amazing Race will take place on Friday, May 10 after school.  SK students will compete in groups of 2-4 to complete a series of mental and physical challenges and much fun.  Admission is $7 per person with an additional $3 registration fee per group.  Registration begins April 15.  Contact Miss Hoerlein in Room 207 for more information.  Forms are due April 26.  Winners will receive Kings Island Season Passes.
 
FFA Needs Your Help . . .
The SK FFA Alumni Chapter is looking for members.  Come join the chapter and help support the SK FFA members.  Each year the group provided scholarships for deserving students.  You don't have to be a former FFA student to join!  Meetings are held at the Durr Extension Office.  Meeting dates:  July 9, September 10, October 8 and December 10.

The Counseling Department has scheduled several dates to meet with Juniors during SKORE to provide information and guidelines that they will need to begin planning for college and/or training after high school. 

 

The students will be divided up into groups of 60-70 students.  The sessions will begin on Wednesday, March 27 starting with the beginning of the alphabet and will run through April 24. 

Each group of students will report to Auditorium A at the beginning of SKORE @10:31 according to the schedule below.  We have attempted to avoid any conflicts with other academic activities that may be scheduled at that time.  Announcements and reminders will be sent out to everyone as we move through the schedule.

SENIORS . . . if you receive a scholarship award notice, please contact the counseling department with the information. Please give the information whether you accept the scholarship or not. The guidance department needs to keep track of all scholarship awards.


If you are the son or daughter of a firefighter or police officer, there is a scholarship opportunity.  Come to the guidance office, if interested.

 

Upcoming Band Events
 
There are many exciting events coming up for the SK Band Program. 

Friday, April 19
    Quarter Auction Fundraiser.  Please come out and support the students in this endeavor.  Doors open at 6:15 PM and it will run until 9 PM.  Admission is $5.00.    
 
Friday, May 10   Music in the Parks Concert Band Festival.  We will be taking both bands to Loveland High School or King's High School on Friday night to compete in the Music in the Parks Concert Festival. 
 
We will be adjudicated by three judges and will be in competition with other bands in our class.  
Need Community Service Hours?

Twenhofel Middle School is looking for students who need volunteer hours for an upcoming event on April 26 from 5:30-8:30 PM.  If you'd like to volunteer at Twenhofel's Spring Fling, contact Samantha Corwin @ 513.253.1488 or smanthat@corwin.org.

Brittany Waymeyer finished with a Superior 1st Place in Dairy Production for her supervised agriculatural experience and will advance to the state level. 

 

Brandon Miller, Matthew Tomlinson, Jacob Lunsford, Austin Patton, Jaclyn Heeger and John Campbell are competing in teh welding contest @ UK this week.  GOOD LUCK!!!!!

 

Freshman Track Team

 

Congratulations to the freshman girls track & field team who place first in the Cov Catholic Freshman Invitational.  The boys team finished runners-up at the same event.

 

Business Principles
 

Team members Derrick Camp, Brandi Johnson and Blake Powell finished 2nd in the region in the recent Stock Market Game.

 

Academic Team

 

The Academc Team ended its season with a championship at the University of Louisville's Spring Invitational.  Members of the winning team were Bake Emmons, Chris Casson, Brittany Honaker, and Ally Weibel.  The "B" team took 3rd place in the tournament after being knocked out in the semifinals by our "A" team.  Members were Troy Sterling, Kyle Casson, Tristan Feinauer and Ashton Mallory.
