I wish you could sit in on my conversations with parents when they tell me what's working for them. These "Maverick Moments" are almost magical, because the parent seems to suddenly have discovered a new hope that they will be able to help their child, or because it seems almost like fate that they came to me for help. Below are some examples from recent consultations, including one with a parent who lives halfway around the world.

Free Screening
How did this particular client know to get in touch with me?  She said that her aunt had cut out a newspaper article about me almost 8 years ago! But she forgot to pass it on. Then, the aunt recently moved and found the article again and this time she gave it to the woman who is now my client, who then went to my web site and sent an email.She told me recently, "You are over 10,000 miles away, but the help you have given me for my two-year-old has changed my entire family. I feel like an angel brought you to me. Even in the first meeting I learned so much to help my son."

Evaluation
This client continued, saying "I have spared no expense to find help for my daughter. We have literally pursued every avenue, lots of reports, lots of tests, lots of opinions from very highly respected professionals. Although I am a doctor myself, none of these assessments seemed to fit my girl. I am a visual thinker and my husband, who is an architect, is too. So we understood our daughter's visual mind better than the teachers and therapists."  

She said that she felt so much relief when I explained all of these prior findings from the perspective of brain science. She said that it lifted a huge cloud of doubt and fear from her family.

Here is what another one of my clients said that she would like to tell other families. She wrote in email that I had told her "that I would see changes every day with my 9-year-old son. I thought this was pretty far-fetched. I asked Dr. Florance how do you know that? She said because I only select children for my program that qualify by meeting very strict criteria. And then when I saw immediate and rapid changes in my son, I knew she was right." 

I have been doing this now for over 40 years. When I was a medical school professor and clinician, the Dean of Medicine told me that one of my greatest strengths was correct client selection.
