Becky Boyde is the owner of Inside the Attic, a local shop that has been in operation since 1991 and until recently was located on Bridge Street. In addition to running her business in Bridgewater, Becky has been a long-standing member of the Bridgewater Community Development Corporation. Becky has been involved in and worked tirelessly at community and business district efforts such as PumpkinFest, Bridgewater BookFest, and Night of Lights over the years. Additionally, she was involved in getting the American flags replaced on the poles located on Bridge Street.

Becky's shop is now moving to a new location due to her current building being sold. The new location of Inside the Attic is 3571 Brodhead Road, Monaca. Inside the Attic is a country gift shop and women's apparel store, as well as a sewing shop with cotton and upholstery fabric and notions.

On the sewing side of her business, Becky does custom made items for the home. Items include curtains, placemats, and runners. She also does cushion upholstering for porch furniture and recovers small chairs like dining room and kitchen chairs and small side chairs. The gift shop section is made up of items for the home such as lamps, furniture, candles, and tea cups. You will find many items to add comfort to any room. Jenn Gooch's new studio, WERK, in downtown Lawrenceville is a compelling example of traditional tailoring services, and community courses (on sewing, of course)...all in one storefront. Read more about this creative means for bringing new life to a Lawrenceville storefront here.

Werk represents a community-based perspective for helping to restore our downtowns, the "little e-economy:"  

"I left her shop feeling hopeful about the future of the people's economy. Not the big-E economy of the World Bank, Wall Street and headlines, but the little-e economy people make themselves by inventing jobs, bartering, playing by rules that they make and recruiting the support of others for mutual benefit.

It may be that the big-E economy is compelling this undercurrent, especially among the young, many of whom cannot find work in the fields they studied. It would be rewarding to see it swell regardless of whether the headlines become more positive. The economy of the little guy might be one way for the system to work for the many."
