With a short school week, there is no regular Constant Comment today, only important reminders.
Coming Up at Burgundy ...

See You Tomorrow at the Auction!

Auction logo Think of a precious diamond and its many facets as a representation of our invaluable Burgundy community--the incredible teachers and staff with their boundless dedication, the amazing companionship with your fellow parents, the unique experience of our "hidden gem" campus. All of these factors combine every day to help each of our children shine far brighter than any diamond ever could.

It is in this spirit of community that we come together tomorrow for Burgundy's 33rd Annual Auction, Shine Bright like a diamond. We celebrate the light within each of our students, and pledge to share the radiance of a Burgundy education with even more students. Auction proceeds--from live and silent auction items, raffles, and contributions, detailed in our catalog--support financial aid, so that our community remains multifaceted, brilliant, and luminous.

The elegant and fun adults-only evening begins at 5:30 p.m. in the space that we often call the Gym, but tomorrow will be a shimmering wonderland. We hope you can join us--and if you can't, please know you will be missed. While it is too late to RSVP online, come early to register at the door. And of course, we always welcome a direct contribution to Burgundy to support our precious students and wonderful community.

Fundraising Focus Group March 16

After hearing interest from parents in last month's Annual Meeting of the Corporation, we will have a focus group to discuss fundraising at Burgundy on Monday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Loft.

Kathy Hanson, Senior Consultant at Marts and Lundy and Burgundy's advancement consultant, will lead us in a conversation about the need for and role of philanthropy in independent schools and specifically schools similar to Burgundy. Please register, as information will be sent in advance of the meeting.

No Idling in the Carpool Line!

Recently, the  Middle School Sustainability Task Force has begun to address the issue of idling in the carpool line, and the problems that go along with it.

Idling is a huge problem for the environment. Idling buses and cars are one of the main contributors to air pollution because they release so much particulate matter and ozone in the engine exhaust. It is also a health risk--all of the extra emissions produced from the cars put asthmatics at risk, affect healthy lung growth in young children, and greatly increase risk of getting respiratory tract infections.

We would really appreciate it if you can help us make a difference. The main way to do this is by turning off your vehicle when you arrive at the carpool line, and not turning it back on until you are ready to drive. Next week, members of our task force will be on parade during afternoon carpool, reminding drivers not to idle their engines while waiting in line.

For more information, please go to any of these links: Earth Day - No Idling, Stop Idling Enforcement, Idle-Free VT, or Sustainable America. Thank you!

Emergency Alert Reminders

To announce yesterday's school closure, Burgundy posted on our website and  Facebook page, alerted local media, and contacted families through our emergency alert notification system. Our website homepage is always the first place notifications are posted, so check there if you haven't received a notification. Generally if there are delays or closures, emails and text alerts are sent; if there are important changes a voicemail may also be sent. See the Parent Handbook and School Directory for more information. If you did not receive notifications about the closure and delay earlier this week, please contact alert@burgundyfarm.org.
