Meet UUCA Authors This Month & Next
|
The UUCA Bookstore is holding 3 book signings on Sundays over the next several weeks, showcasing authors who are members of the congregation! Please stop by the Bookstore to meet the authors before, between, and after services.
Nov. 10: Aimee Wise's Of Human Clay
Nov. 17: Michael Kuhar's The Art and Ethics of Being a Good Colleague
Dec. 1: Babs Hajdusiewicz's various children's books
This Sunday, come meet Aimee Wise. Her book, Of Human Clay, is a compelling story of her Irish Catholic childhood, life as a young nun, and her unique experiences as a medical missionary in Malawi. With astonishing honesty, Wise describes the crises and losses that she faced on her unique spiritual journey: a clash of world views, a patriarchal church, and an innocent but sensual first love. [Paperback, $17]

Humanist Fellowship This Sunday - American Justice: What Happened?
It was believed by the Founding Fathers that inequalities in wealth and power do not become destabilizing in democracies as long as the principle of equality under the law is rigorously upheld. In the US, that principle has been routinely violated, but never openly disavowed. This week the Humanist Fellowship will begin several months of studying the ways in which justice has suffered under the political and economic changes of the last 30 years. They will begin with Glenn Greenwald, who makes the case that the US has abandoned, even repudiated, the rule of law and is becoming a land in which impunity to prosecution enjoyed by elites coexists with prosecution and incarceration of record numbers of ordinary citizens. The Humanist Fellowship gathers Sundays from 11:15 am - 12:30 pm, and participants are encouraged to bring a donation for the food barrel.
