Charleston County Widening Project Underway in Mt. Pleasant
The City has executed multiple parking improvements for the Isle of Palms, and now Charleston County and the Town of Mount Pleasant are executing a project that should help as well. No changes will be made to the bridge portion of the IOP Connector. However, on the Mount Pleasant side, the Connector will be widened, allowing improved ingress and egress in the busy season. The construction project at the Island Center has everyone excited. The Beach Company owns the center and reports a goal of having the new Harris Teeter grocery store open in late April or mid-May. The smaller store fronts have all been leased. The recent Connector closings for safety during Winter Storm Leon reminded the island how nice a grocery store will be. In the meantime, residents can patronize the Marina store, Simmons Seafood, the Kangaroo, and Hudson's Market in Wild Dunes. |
