Register now for the IOP Connector Run and Walk on October 5. The Connector will close to traffic at
7:00 a.m. on race day.
Charleston County: Rifle Range Improvements and Road Resurfacing 
Charleston County has solicited bids for two road projects that will benefit the Isle of Palms.  First, the Connector will be widened only on the Mount Pleasant side to improve the exodus for beach visitors. Second, Palm Boulevard will be repaved from 41st to 57th.  Construction bids will be received in October and both projects are slated to be complete in the Spring.
  
Parking Developments 
 
At its September meeting, City Council awarded Stantec a contract to analyze island parking and create a plan to implement a parking permit system, to review on-street parking, and to verify on-street parking conditions.  Click here to read a timeline of parking improvements.  Click here to read minutes from City meetings.
  
Exchange Club Hosts Meeting for Everyone on Consolidated Dispatch
9-1-1 Center at 6:00 PM on October 7 
    
 
The City has prepared for months for the transition to the Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch 9-1-1 Center on October 1.  The photograph above depicts City Council and staff touring the Consolidated Dispatch Center facility.  Cross-training and role-playing have been a focus as have community meetings.  Please attend a meeting hosted by the IOP Exchange Club on October 7 at 6:00 PM open to all residents of Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms.  Residents will learn the differences they can expect between the current system and the transition.

Fire Prevention Parade
October 9 at 4:45 PM
Get ready for loud sirens! The annual Fire Prevention Parade hosted by the Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms Fire Departments, in cooperation with many area agencies, will begin at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9. Watch for fire engines and trucks all over the islands.  Join us at Sullivan's Island Fire Station at 2050 Middle Street for fun, refreshments and fire prevention education.
