Public Hearing on DRAFT Fiscal Year 2014 Budget at 5:30 on May 21 in City Hall 

The City requests citizen comments on the draft fiscal year 2014 budget, which has passed first reading and is expected to have second reading and ratification in May or June. The FY14 budget reflects no property tax increase. 
Wayfinding Signs, Beach Access and Parking Improvements

 Parking      
The City expects to have new Wayfinding signs installed at the beginning of this beach season to help direct visitors to safe and legal parking near Front Beach.  This initiative is the newest accomplishment in beach access and parking improvements.  Citizens can read a summary and timeline on the City's website of the work, since 2008, that the City has executed to improve beach access and parking. 

25th Anniversary Piccolo Spoleto Sandsculpting, 9:00 a.m. June 1

Sand Sculpting Competition  

This year is the 25th Anniversary of the popular Piccolo Spoleto Sand Sculpting Competition on Front Beach.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded in these categories: Adults, Family, Young Adults, Children, Best Architectural, Most Creative and Best in Show.  Click here for registration, rules, and a video and photos of last year's event. Sea Turtle Release on IOP
Lights Out for
Sea Turtles May 1 to October 31


Marine turtles nest on the Isle of Palms each year in the summer season and to protect nesting turtles and their hatchlings, City ordinances stipulate that no lights be on or visible from the beach from May 1 to October 31. Turn lights out for turtles!
