The Big Issue - Taking Responsibility
Week 21 2013
help us
Greetings!

Just about 3 weeks ago now I was walking away from a personal development course that had taken place in the heart of the Devonshire countryside. I left with a far deeper connection to nature, the world around me and myself.

As a result of that course I now carry with me a pledge 'to lead a sacred life and help care for the sacred body of the Earth, giving a voice to all those inhabitants of the Earth that as yet can not speak for themselves'. A pledge that starts here and now with this newsletter.

On Tuesday of this week TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge launched a fresh appeal along with the UK government to crack down on wildlife crime on behalf of The World Wildlife Fund and all those species upon the planet that continue to suffer at the hands of poachers, having their voices ever more muted.

To my mind however we all need to take responsibility for this issue, for with regards to crime against nature I believe it is all of us that need to be stood in the dock and not just the poachers themselves. There are wider issues here to which we are all culpable and if we can change our behaviour we can perhaps reverse the trend.

Today's video gives an example of how to live more in harmony with nature creating the right relationship to the world around us and the animals that exist within it.

To find out more about 'The Big Issue' we are all now being faced with, the responsibility we can take when more awareness of the situation is raised and the changes we can make to our lives for the better when we realise this fact why not read on to the following article.

Otherwise until next time.

Much love.

What we now have to face up to as human beings.

The fact that all the signature species upon the planet continue to remain in a critical state without any real sign of recovery can be attributed to one factor alone, the growth of our own human population.

All other reasoning behind the dwindling numbers can be traced back to this fundamental realization, be that poaching for skins and body parts, climate change, habitat loss, decline in natural prey or indeed direct conflict with us as human beings.

Purely by continuing to go forth and multiply we are impacting on the world around us. When this is coupled with how we consume our natural resources, polluting our atmosphere, as we attain more materialistic stuff and continue to uphold our belief systems that place ourselves above and beyond nature, we bring about its and ultimately our own demise.

I believe we seriously need to look in the mirror now and decide what we want for our world. If we are to sustain ourselves as a population we need to start to think about how many children we have, two per woman per lifetime will roughly sustain a 7 billion strong population with medical systems and food sources we currently have in place. However, with that food supply in doubt with less oil in the system and our climate changing because of continued burning of such fossil fuels then arguably less children than that would be possibly more sustainable for us all.

Current overcrowding in the likes of Africa, India and China are no doubt causing habitats to shrink quite radically in those areas and with more poverty and less food likely to be in existence in such a scenario is it any wonder that the population turns to the wildlife for both bush meat and to make money out of prized carcasses used in Asian medicine.

The answer to this problem lies squarely with how we now choose to live our lives, with the belief that each one of us can make a difference. It is our collective mindset that has got us into this pickle, so it is reasonable to assume that our collective mindset can get us out of it, provided we follow Einstein's famous words and shift our thinking as 'you cannot solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that created it.'

If you ever wondered what sustainability really means, you now have an idea of it. When our growth system maxes out, be that in human terms or with regards to our economy we really only have one option and that is to cap our expansion and go into a creative descent, otherwise we die very quickly along with all the other notable creatures on the planet.

It is time to face a very stark truth with the belief that we have the creative ability amongst us to put things right, but it starts with us, you and me taking responsibility and choosing to live our lives differently to what has gone before, for the old ways are coming to an end and will encounter a lot of hardship as they continue to fail.

This week I decided to put my money where my mouth was and commit to adopting both a snow leopard and a tiger on the WWF website. This was as a direct result of picking up a copy of 'The Big Issue' and synchronistically seeing such an invitation when completing an exercise on The Journey, the personal development course I had been a part of earlier this month, changing my thinking to help find a solution.

If you care to comment on this blog why not do so here or if you wish to find out how to shift your own thinking and start to change your life for the better why not contact me now. Our life purpose ultimately holds the answers to our existence here at this time and by all endeavouring to find it we can find the right solutions to our planet and create happiness for ourselves in the process. There is yet hope I believe.

Until next time.

Much love Sx.
