Set Your Spirit Free

In this past couple of weeks the UK has been hit with wide spread flooding, something that is becoming a more regular occurrence not seemingly tied to any particular season.

Within the last month America too has been hit by Hurricane Sandy stopping Wall Street in its tracks where only terrorism had succeeded before. 7 years ago it was Hurricane Katrina that slammed into New Orleans another city built at sea level causing massive disruption to the human population in existence there also.

Last year it was the Japanese tsunami that hit all the headlines stopping nuclear development in that country and making others think about their investment in it too and  this followed on from the Asian tsunami experienced in 2004 which caused a huge loss of life there also.

All these events have affected people living their lives where we continue to ignore the laws of nature, inhabiting and developing upon areas which nature is only too happy to reclaim when the balance shifts back in its favour.

Can we put all these events down to a natural cyclical revolving set of weather patterns and movement of tectonic plates or has the human explosion of recent years upset the natural status quo of all life? And therefore do we need to take responsibility for this ourselves from this day forward?

On the BBC Countryfile programme this week we heard of the great flood of 1703. When Googling 'UK great flood' you soon get results for 1607, 1703, 1864, 1947, 1953 and 1968. So they do occur cyclically but the sense is that we are getting more and more of them in not so spaced out intervals.

Similarly in the US there have always been hurricanes and tornadoes but perhaps not with as much severity or as frequently as what seems to be occurring at this moment in time certainly within our collective history.

It is the same in other parts of the world too not only with floods and high winds but with drought, famine and fire also. 

Of course part of the reason why we hear more about natural disasters and the affect they have on our global population is because of our world wide media coverage in the digital age and the mere fact that our species is in comparison so large to what it has ever been before, so the loss of life from such events is likely to be that much greater.

Taking all that on board however it does seem reasonable to believe that all these events are happening due to a climate change that we can at least to a certain extent be held accountable for, the maths do in fact add up.  

The question is however can we purely put the result of this down to the laws of physics and Sir Isaac Newton's description that 'every action has an equal and opposite reaction to it' or is it more spiritual than that or are in fact both one and the same?

I am of the opinion that something is happening more spiritually around all these events at this moment in time and the only way we will find the answers to what we are experiencing is to reconnect with nature itself. Hence on Friday 7th December at 1.30pm in Longtimber Woods, Ivybridge, Devon UK I will be running my first 'Conversations With Nature' event taking the Conversation Café outdoors and inviting nature to help in the facilitation.

Also I believe all these events are assisting us in a shift in consciousness be that on a spiritual or more physical level and hence my next Conversation Café on Tuesday 11th December will be devoted to '21/12/2012: End of the world as per the Mayan calendar? A new level of consciousness? Or no change whatsoever?

Finally on the Winter Solstice itself this year I plan to run another meditation event in conjunction with Northern Drum out in nature from 8.30pm aiming to support all those wishing to embrace such a shift in consciousness within our lives. Praying to Eywa just as Jake Sulley did for a future world where there is much more harmony, love, compassion, joy, peace, freedom, creativity, beauty and respect.
