In today's
2nd video it clearly states that the answer to our life lies within our own being, in our own knowledge rather than with anyone else. We can be guided, we can become aware of the stages we have to go through to find fulfillment but ultimately we have to take responsibility for our own place within the Universe and commit to what our own purpose in life truly is.
Having read Joseph Campbell's work 'A Hero With A Thousand Faces', being mentored by Neil Crofts and making my own inquiry into various philosophies I have discovered that the path we all have to take to fulfillment can be broken down into 5 essential stages and this is a part of a wider 8 stage development program which in itself has parallels to the chakra system lying within us all as well as many other spiritual paths too it must be said.
So yes that first stage is fully taking responsibility for our lives, it goes hand in hand with the 2nd, realising that the path we have been conditioned to believe is right for us is not in fact true to who we really are. We have to evolve beyond the life we first encounter when arriving on the planet.
In Bill Plotkin's book 'Soulcraft' he states that we first learn our survival dance before we evolve to find our sacred dance. Our survival dance is all about how we learn to exist within our initial family unit, community or society we are born into, in butterfly terms when we live our life as a caterpillar.
However as all caterpillars eventually become aware, there is another life that they are truly destined to lead and they will need to rid themselves of all the things that they have put up with in the past in order to become an altogether more vibrant being.
In human terms in order to shed our old skin we may need to employ a whole range of therapists in order to start to establish who we truly are. We simply have to find the one that is right for us. This all happens in the 2nd stage of development.
For the indigenous peoples of the world they literally leave the society they have been brought up within to voyage on a rite of passage into the wilderness to find out what they have to bring to the world as adults. All the great prophets too have made a similar journey out into nature to start to establish what is truly right for them. This is the 3rd stage of seeing the bigger picture for our lives, going into chrysalis and starting to transform, finding our life's purpose.
The 4th stage is the return journey bringing what we have discovered about ourselves back into the world for the benefit of others, it is the emergence of the butterfly from its pupae, planning our way back to civilization and then onward. It is only then that the final stage can come into existence and the sacred dance can begin. We finally are able to look into the mirror and see the hero stood before us, the fully grown adult or butterfly taking flight, sure of our purpose within the world and leadership capability.
After that our further development includes learning to maintain that purpose, becoming aware of our true connection to all things, before unity can eventually be found in the place we are meant to be practicing our art. Our entire journey is one that evolves away from a fear based consciousness towards a more loving one and everything in our world is set up perfectly for this evolution. There will come a time when we simply love everything we do and how we have come to be, loving everyone and everything unconditionally as the Universe in turn does to us and herein lies that Universal Truth.
