line of Upton double basses, the UB Brazilwood SELECT double bass bow is unsurpassed in both customization and finishing at its price point. Each Brazilwood Select is "Upton-ized" and hand-finished by Josh in the Boston shop. Josh first begins by hand-selecting the cream of the crop from the
UB Workshop Bows- the best of the best with the cleanest and most attractive sticks, ebony frogs and nickel components. Once these are sorted, the sticks are stripped, thinned, the tips reshaped, and the frogs detailed. Then the sticks are oiled, varnished and let to dry over a period of days, and then buffed out until a fine satin matte finish is achieved. When the sticks are properly cured, they are silver and leather wrapped/capped (from hand-trimmed leather- German wrap is optional) and then haired with a top quality hank of fresh horse hair (your choice of black, dark/light silver, or white) and hand-cut mahoghany plugs. Finished with a shine and final quality inspection, you won't find a bow in its price range with more hands-on attention than the UB Brazilwood SELECT Double Bass Bow!
