President's Message
By: Diana Lopez, HBA President
I'd like to start by thanking everyone who has helped kick off my first month as HBA president. As an HBA member since law school, I am excited for the opportunity to give back a portion of what the organization has given to me over the years.
As many of you know, the principal way the HBA is able to provide the programs and scholarships that we do is from the funds raised during our annual scholarship dinner. This year's dinner is less than 3 weeks away and I'd like to personally invite you to RSVP here: 36th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser and Installation Dinner.
The dinner has so much to offer, from a fabulous silent auction to tequila toasting with friends and colleagues. Come meet the Wally Davis Scholars and be inspired by our honorees and Keynote Speaker. As if that weren't reason enough to join us, we will be ending the night with live music and dancing! Don't miss out on the fun!
I'd like to personally thank the members of this year's Dinner Committee:
Ivan U. Cisneros, The Cisneros Law Firm Maria Cobarrubias, Valencia & Associates APC Carlos X. Colorado, Eagan Avenatti, LLP Erica M. Diaz, AlvaradoSmith Eric Dominguez, Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen and Loewy, LLP Albert Durazo, Matles Insurance Agency, Inc. Lukoschek, U.S. Immigration Law Group, LLP Thomas Miller, Advanced Depositions Rafael G. Nendel-Flores, Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. Darrell P. White, Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP
A very special thank you to all of our amazing sponsors this year, listed at the bottom of this email, but the most important contributors to the HBA Scholarship Fund. Because of your tremendous generosity, we are able to award $40,000 in scholarships to our Wally Davis Scholars this year. It's not too late to join this year's effort to award an even bigger number next year! If you are interested in attending, contributing, or donating a silent auction item, please visit www.ochba.org/dinner2014 or write to info@ochba.org for additional information.
I'd also like to give a special shout out to our friends at Advanced Discovery for sending out the membership renewals you will be receiving soon. It is in large part due to wonderful members like yourself, that the OCHBA can to do all the great work we do, and have the impact we have. For those of you who don't want to wait for the snail mail, you can do so today by clicking here RENEW NOW!
