President's Message

By: Mayte Santacruz, 2013 HBA President

Last month's Annual Judges BBQ was a blast! Thank you to everyone who attended this event. Special thanks to Bette and Wylie Aiken for hosting the BBQ at their home this year and to our event sponsors Union Bank and Crowell & Moring for their continued support. Congratulations again to our Jurist of the Year, Orange County Superior Court Presiding Judge Thomas J. Borris, on this well-deserving honor. Pictures of this event are posted on our website.

Now that the Judges BBQ and our summer events are over, our focus will turn to the election of next year's Executive Officers and Board of Directors. The election will be at the end of this month. Nominations for the leadership positions have been submitted, and the candidates have been invited to attend our Dia de los Muertos Bar Review on October 29 (see details below) to introduce themselves to our members and announce their candidacy for office. The Orange County Bar Association is also holding elections this month. The HBA has endorsed HBA member Tirzah A. Lowe for OCBA Secretary and former HBA President Monica Lukoschek and former HBA Board Member Javier Rivera-Carbone for OCBA Board of Directors. Let your voice be heard by voting in the HBA and OCBA elections!
