President's Message

By: Mayte Santacruz, 2013 HBA President

The HBA's 35th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser and Installation Dinner is three weeks away, and we couldn't be more excited!  The HBA Dinner Committee has been working diligently over the past months organizing and fundraising for this event, and its efforts are paying off.  The support we have received from numerous law firms, organizations, businesses and schools is overwhelming, and we are very thankful for their generosity.  Special thanks to the following top sponsors for their continuous support year after year: Event Sponsor Latham & Watkins LLP, Platinum Sponsors Union Bank and The Disneyland Resort/The Walt Disney Company, and Gold Sponsor Ogletree Deakins.  But don't worry if you haven't donated yet - it is not too late!  There are still many opportunities for you to contribute.  Please visit or write to for additional information.

We hope to see you all at the Annual Dinner on March 2nd.  Do not miss the opportunity to bid on your favorite silent auction and live auction items, socialize with friends and colleagues, toast with a tequila shot, meet our new scholarship recipients, be inspired by this year's exceptional honorees, and dance the night away with La Sonora Dinamita Show.

Invitation To Panel of The College Legal Clinic, Inc.
The College Legal Clinic, Inc. ("CLC"), is in the process of recruiting new attorneys to join its panel of attorneys who provide legal services to students and members of the community.  The CLC is a State-Bar certified lawyer referral service that operates in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties and seeks to provide students and low-income members of the public with quality legal services at a reduced cost.  Membership on the panel is free, but we do ask that you donate a couple of hours of your time every few months to meet with individuals seeking legal advice.  In exchange, we will place you on our referral list, which has generated new clients for a number of our panel members in the past.  If you have any questions, contact Andrew Ampil at (657) 278-5850 or  (714) 870-5757.  We hope to hear from you in the near future!
