Greetings!

In the entertainment industry, the Oscars, Grammys and Emmys are the awards the entertainers strive to achieve. And in the airport business, we have our own awards that airports across the country compete to win.

Reno-Tahoe International recently won two ARN (Airport Revenue News Magazine) awards for best concession programs.

What makes these awards sought after in our industry is that they validate the redesign of our terminal in the eyes of our peers. We have already received great customer feedback on the new stores, restaurants and the re-design of the terminal. But the ARN award honors the work that went into creating a new airport experience for our customers. The goal was to give our passengers a sense of place as they arrived and departed our community. Our peers in the industry agreed that we achieved that.

So the next time you are in the airport, maybe flying out on JetBlue after the beginning of their new daily service to New York, we hope you enjoy our award winning airport amenities like the Wolf Pack Wall, Children's Play Area, Native American display, DepARTures Art Gallery and the Nevada Mining Display. And while the trophy is nice to put on the shelf, the real victory for the Board of Trustees and staff at Reno-Tahoe International is seeing customers truly enjoying their travel experience at RNO.

We hope to see you soon at the airport.

Sincerely,

Marily M. Mora, A.A.E.

Airport Cargo Soars to a Record in December 2014

The holiday season truly took-off at Reno-Tahoe International in December as RNO recorded the busiest cargo month in the airport's history.

The airport handled 15,776,073 pounds of cargo in December, 2014. This was a 12.7 percent increase over the cargo tonnage handled in December, 2013. Internet shopping for holiday gifts was an obvious factor in the record amount of cargo.

Calendar year 2014 was also RNO's best overall year for cargo for the past seven years with 129,089,232 pounds of cargo handled at the airport. It was also the second best year for cargo ever recorded at RNO and just 160,000 pounds shy of the record for best year.

"These impressive cargo numbers are an indication of the economic growth in our region and the important role the airport plays in economic diversification," Marily Mora, President/CEO of Reno-Tahoe International Airport, said. "Our December numbers were amazing and we are honored to play such an important role in helping fill so many holiday wish lists."

Cargo carriers currently serving RNO include FedEx, UPS and DHL.

Airport Earns Top Awards

Reno-Tahoe International Airport received two distinguished awards last month from Airport Revenue News (ARN): Airport with the Best Concession Program Design and the Airport with the Best Amenities.

RNO won Best Concession Program Design and Airport With the Best Amenities

Airport Revenue News recognized top performers in the airport concessions industries during its Awards Gala at the ARN 2015 Revenue Conference & Exhibition in San Diego, CA on March 8-11th. Nominations in the award categories are submitted by industry professionals in airports and concessions and RNO is pleased to have been selected by its peers.

High Mountain Marketplace features an outdoor adventure clothing store, the popular Brighton Collectibles, News & Gift and hi-tech gadgets from inMotion.

The Gateway Construction Project, completed in 2013, greatly enhanced the restaurant and retail options for the 3.4 million passengers each year who fly through RNO.  Thanks to the Gateway Program, Reno-Tahoe International now offers new concessions & amenities, and an open design that's easy for passengers to navigate. And more than that, passengers know they've landed in Reno-Tahoe, thanks to a Tahoe-themed design and colors reminiscent of the region.

And the improvements have not gone unnoticed by our passengers. In a recent Customer Satisfaction Survey, airport passengers gave RNO a 6.4 out of 7 overall satisfaction rating, with one of the top three marks for attractiveness and decor of the facility. In addition, customers gave high marks for the variety of places to eat, compared with options prior to construction.

Timber Ridge restaurant, located on the second floor past security, offers mountain views and fine dining.

These awards from ARN help demonstrate the success of the Gateway Construction Project that adds a sense of place to the airport and offers passengers world-class shopping and dining.
