Just in time for the holidays, our community received a $20 million gift this year from a new airline partner south of the border.
Volaris Airlines of Mexico has begun non-stop, twice weekly service between Guadalajara and Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The new flights are expected to generate $20 million in economic impact for our region each year. And next holiday season, RNO is bringing another international gift to our region on Dec. 19 when Thomas Cook Airlines begins twice weekly service between Reno and London. On the general aviation side of the airport, the Reno-Tahoe Aviation Group gave lift to holiday dreams for the Children's Cabinet with Operation Santa Claus (See story below).
The holiday season is a great time to bring these gifts to our community. But it is also important to recognize that at Reno-Tahoe International and Reno-Stead Airport, there is a family of 2,500 hard-working people who strive all year long, 24/7, to provide outstanding service to our 3 million customers. They represent the airlines, TSA, FAA, car rental agencies, stores, restaurants, aviation businesses and the Airport Authority. On behalf of the entire airport family, we wish you the happiest of holidays.
We hope to see you soon at the airport.
Sincerely,
Marily M. Mora, A.A.E.

Volaris Brings First-Ever Non-stop Service between Reno and Guadalajara
Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is proud to announce new non-stop service between Reno and Guadalajara, Mexico.
This new service helps put the "International" in Reno-Tahoe Inter-national, and is the first scheduled international air service at RNO since 1999.
 | The Volaris Flight Crew and Mariachis from Guadalajara celebrated the first departure on Dec. 16th
|
The first departure left RNO on December 16, 2014, and the twice weekly service will operate every Tuesday and Friday. The international flight is the culmination of months of work between Volaris and a dedicated group of Reno-Tahoe partners including the Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT), the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSVCA), local hotels, casinos and ski resorts, the Hispanic Chamber and Reno Vice-Mayor Oscar Delgado.

The airport has worked closely with NCOT to develop key relationships in Mexico. Reno-Tahoe hotel, casino and ski partners offered room deals for the new international travelers. The Hispanic Chamber also worked with the airport to connect with the local Latino population to be ready to promote the flight and welcome Mexican travelers to our community.
In addition, the airport worked closely with Customs and Border Patrol in both Washington and San Francisco, as well as with the Nevada Federal Delegation, to obtain landing rights for the flight that brings an estimated $20 million in economic impact to the region each year.
Volaris operates an Airbus 320 with 174 seats, each Tuesday and Friday. It departs Guadalajara at 11:30 a.m. and arrives in Reno at 1:50 p.m. The flight then departs Reno at 3:20 p.m. and lands in Guadalajara at 8:55 p.m. For more information, visit www.renoairport.com.
