  • Mr. Christian Wilke will be teaching Algebra and Pre-Calculus as well as helping coach football this fall.  He graduated from Concordia University Chicago in May of 2015 with a BA in Secondary Education, majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Theology.
  • Miss Rebecca Eifert, Mrs. Mueller's student teacher and her maternity leave substitute from last year, returns this school year to direct Wind Symphony, teach Algebra, and work with several of the area Lutheran grade school bands.  Miss Eifert graduated from Concordia University Chicago in December 2014 with a Bachelor of Music of Education degree (BME) with a math minor.
In addition to new faces, a couple of faculty members will be taking on new roles in administration:
  • Mrs. Lindsay Mueller is Valley Lutheran's new Guidance Director. In addition to continuing as the director of the Symphonic Band, she will be working with students through the guidance office to assist in scheduling, college prep, and helping students reach their goals.
  • Mr. Heath Vincent is taking on the duties as Director of Student Recruitment.  He is looking forward to sharing all the great things going on at Valley with students in the area grade schools.
Sophomore/Junior/Senior Night for Parents and Students
There is one remaining Sophomore/Junior/Senior Night Tuesday, August 18th, at 7pm.  Parents and students are asked to attend this meeting to receive information that is specific to those classes. The meeting will last about one hour.

There will be another meeting immediately following for National Honor Society prospects.  Students eligible to apply to NHS received a letter from Mr. Vincent over the summer and should plan on attending this important meeting.
Freshman Orientation and Lock-In News
All Freshmen and their parents are asked to attend the Freshman Orientation on Friday, Aug. 21st, at 7pm.  Parents will have the opportunity to meet other parents and get those last minute questions answered.  Students will receive their schedules, find their classes, and test their locker combinations prior to the first day of school.  The Freshman Lock-In will follow orientation.  Detailed information about the Lock-In will be shared during the home visits.
Back to School Supply List

Student Schedules
Class schedule changes are best made before school starts.  Changes will be approved only for a legitimate reason with administrative and parental approval.  In general, schedules will not be changed to accommodate student preferences of study hall or lunch hour.

Returning student schedules will be released on Thursday, August 20th, via My Student Data.  Students will need their UIC number, which is available at the Sophomore/Junior/Senior Night.

Freshmen will receive their schedules at the Freshman Orientation on Friday, August 21st.

He Humbled Himself

5 Have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Although he was in the form of God and equal with God, he did not take advantage of this equality.7 Instead, he emptied himself by taking on the form of a servant,
by becoming like other humans,
by having a human appearance.
8 He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, death on a cross.  9 This is why God has given him an exceptional honor-the name honored above all other names-
10 so that at the name of Jesus everyone in heaven, on earth,
and in the world below will kneel
11 and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
  ~Philippians 2:5-11
