News From Miss Feldkamp
Global Issues classes have been studying essential needs and fasted for twenty-hours to better appreciate what hunger may be like.  They raised money from individual contributions and a school wide bake sale; and then each class decided how to spend their raised monies on individual World Vision projects.  It was amazing to see what the students did once they saw how their money could make a real difference. The initial $450 raised turned into over $700 the week we started spending money.  Projects funded include:
  • Malaria prevention mosquito nets
  • PUR water packets for villages
  • Fruit trees
  • Tools, seeds, and training for farmers
  • Medicine for villages
  • Water treatment tables for a year
  • Life straws (personal water filtration devices)
  • Education for a child for a year
  • Ducks
  • Food

Many of the gifts were given more than once and the medicine and food gifts were multiplied 12 times by other organizations.  It is amazing what we can do to make a difference when we simply, "Do Something," as the lyrics from a Matthew West song point out: "I said, 'God, why don't You do something?'  He said, 'I did, I created you!'"

Prom and Post Prom This Weekend
Valley Lutheran students will soon be enjoying Prom and Post Prom activities!  This year's Prom will be held on April 25th from 6-11:30pm at Bay Valley Resort.  Post Prom will follow at SVSU's Ryder Center starting at 11:30pm until 4:30am on April 26th.  Post Prom tickets will be on sale Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week, during lunch periods.  Students must have a signed permission slip in order to buy tickets (download it here).

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

3While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."

37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.  38 He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see;  a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.

44 He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."

45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, "This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

~Luke 24:36-49
