A LETTER FROM THE AJF BOARD CHAIR
The AJF trip to Amsterdam was really fantastic. It was a rich experience full of great studio visits, special museum shows, and frenzied gallery shopping. It was very intense and required lots of stamina, but all the participants had a truly memorable trip. Thank you to everyone in Amsterdam who hosted us. We love you.

The book tour is just winding down now, and it has been a wild success with large audiences everywhere and lots of chatter about the book Contemporary Jewelry in Perspective. Students and others who have attended the discussions and lectures have been challenged by new ways of thinking about jewelry. It has also been very rewarding to partner with many other institutions around the country. Thanks to all. And don't forget that you can order the book on our website, if you haven't already.

IN MEMORY OF YVONNE JORIS
Helen W. Drutt English remembers Yvonne Joris, the former director of the Stedelijk Museum in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
Born: January 23, 1950 in Hunsel, Netherlands
Died: September 29, 2013 in Leuven, Belgium
It was June 1982 when I first met Yvonne Joris at my eponymous gallery in Philadelphia. Within minutes, I fell under her enthusiastic spell and passion for the arts. She was accompanied by Evert van Straaten, who eventually became the director (now retired) of the Krller-Mller Museum, in Otterlo. Before I knew it, I had become the central depot for their planned exhibition of American pottery, which opened in 1983, Who's Afraid of American Pottery? That title in itself should have prepared me for what was to come. From that moment on, until her untimely death, it was a journey into the unexpected!
