WINNER OF FEBRUARY'S BRAIN TEASER CHALLENGE
Last month, we challenged readers to turn this brainteaser into a great HOOK:

"Tom's mother had three children. One was called April. One was called May. What was the other one called?"
(The correct answer is at the bottom of this newsletter.)

TIFFANY TURNER won a copy of
Instructional Design That Soars: Shaping What You Know Into Classes That Inspire with this Hook for her class:

"How many of you have missed important information that was right in front of you? Sometimes when our minds are on a particular track, we miss information (even when it's right in front of us).

"This is why we've created a process to make it easier for you to easily identify the critical pieces of information you need to know.

"So, let's get started!"

Five Decision-Making Options
 for Leaders
You can enhance meeting productivity by determining in advance which decision-making style to use. When might YOU use each of these styles?

1. Tell
"I want to inform you of a decision I've made, and give you the opportunity to ask questions."

2. Test.
"I'm thinking of choosing Option A to solve the problem. Thoughts?"

3. Sell
"I'm thinking of choosing Option A to solve our problem. Let me convince you why I think it's the best option."

4. Consult
"I need to select an option, and I would like your input on which to choose."

5. Consensus
"We need to make a decision, and I'd like us to make the decision together."

Amazing fact about Sir Elton John:

After 47 years in the spotlight, more than 250 million albums sold, six Grammys, a Tony and an Oscar, Sir Elton John still gets the jitters right before going onstage.

"If you don't have any fear anymore," he told the New York Times, "You've got to give up."

Don't fight your fear...make it work for you!
