Happy Holidays to all of our Crops Plus friends! Where has this year gone? It has been an exciting one for Crops Plus, with a lot of change, including a new (old) location and a rebranding.

I know I have said it many times before, but I can't thank you all enough for your friendship and business. I love being able to meet you and share in this hobby that we all love so much. Crops Plus would not succeed (nor would it be as awesome! :)) without you all.

I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday season with many wonderful moments to document.

See you in 2015!

December Scrapbooking Tip
Scrapbooking Apps

It seems as though everything is digital these days. Even if you scrapbook traditionally, there are still ways that you can edit and play with photos before printing them or find ways to capture photos and journaling in one place for easy recall later. Below, you will find an article on some scrapbooking apps that you mind find useful in your paper crafting.

This article is a little more than a year old, so I am sure that there are others that are missing. One glaring omission is that of the new Becky Higgins Project Life App. Recently released for $2.99, it allows you to plug photos, journaling and pre-designed cards into a myriad of templates and then send that template off for 12x12 or 8x8 printing.

Do you know of other apps that you love that might be useful? Send them to me at cropsplus@ourcropsplus.com and if we can compile a list, we will do an update in the January newsletter.

GoldensHill Papercrafts Store

A visit with Ronnie Martinez, owner

On a recent visit to GoldensHill Papercrafts store, I caught up with Ronnie Martinez, the owner. Some of you may know that GoldensHill Papercrafts recently moved from Ronnie's home basement to a lovely location in downtown Clifton, VA. "It's been a wonderful experience out here," says Ronnie. "I love Clifton. It's a destination place. People can come, they can eat, they can shop the little stores and enjoy Clifton. I love it out here."

Since moving to the Clifton location, her classroom space has grown and she has been able to work with teachers who have a wide variety of styles in their projects.
  • Sharon does the shimmer sheet classes. She also does card classes and works with Dreamweavers to do paste classes.
  • Phan mostly does cards, a monthly kit club (that is full) and does a lot of demos (look for a letterpress demo on December 17). She is also a Silhouette Cameo expert, so feel free to ask questions.
  • Kathy does a once-a-month scrapbook layout.
  • Casandra does mini albums and books.
  • Karen and Beth both do mixed media.
In good news for the state of scrapbooking and paper arts in the area, Ronnie says that business has picked up for her since moving the new location. In the time I was in the store, I could definitely tell that was the case with the door chime tinkling at frequent intervals as people arrived. My personal opinion on this influx in business is that Ronnie has some of the best prices I have ever seen. She easily beats out big box stores, Micheal's and AC Moore. Her discount program cannot be beat.

In addition to her lower-than-retail prices, she gives "40% off your most expensive item. If you bring a bag, any bag, I give you 10% off your total. And then I have a frequent buyer card. For every $5 you spend, you get a punch on the card and when you fill it, you get $20 off." Personally, I purchased product that would have cost about $35 in the retail store. But with her great prices and discount program, I spent $14.

She also has specials every month. For December, the special will be 20% off your total order!

GoldensHill Papercraft will be closed Jan 9 - 17 for CHA. Check her website for classes and if you sign up for her notifications, she will send out an email if she has to be closed for bad weather or emergencies, as she is a one woman operation. http://www.goldenshillpapercrafts.com/

Hours:
  • T, W, Th 10am - 4pm
  • Wednesdays nights, she will stay late by appointment, please call.
  • 1st and 3rd Sat of the month from 10am-2pm.

Tee Shirts For Charity

Another way to give back and win prizes!

As you can tell by our website and this newsletter, we recently rebranded. New look, new logo and that means new tee shirts as well! We haven't sold tee shirts since 2011 and now is the perfect time! PLUS, wear it at a crop for the chance to win great prizes and give a little back.

We are selling these adorable v-neck tee shirts for $25. All of the proceeds will go to Bethany House, a domestic violence shelter in Northern Virginia. Bethany House was organized to help women and their children who have suffered from domestic violence regain health and dignity and become re-established in their community by providing temporary housing and support.

You can choose to have the shirt shipped to you for an additional fee or you can pick it up at any one of our crops. As an added bonus, at each crop, we will have a special prize drawing for anyone caught wearing a Crops Plus shirt over the course of the weekend.

Be sure to get yours before we sell out so that you can also be eligible to win and give back to the community. You can order your shirt here: http://www.ourcropsplus.com/#!crops-plus-tee-shirts/cf9y

Note: Currently we are out of L and XL sizes, but will be ordering more shortly!
