March Scrapbooking Tip
Tips for Scrapbooking Heritage PhotosThe perfect place to showcase and protect your precious family photos, heirlooms, and memories, a heritage scrapbook album is wonderful way to document your family's history and create a lasting gift for future generations. While it may seem a daunting task when faced with boxes of dusty old photos, here are some tips that may help you get started: - Use products you already have on hand.
- Use patterned papers with a cream colored base.
- Use darker backgrounds.
- Always scan your photos.
- Having a digital copy of your photo frees you to re-size or crop them to fit chosen sketches or highlight certain elements.
- Distress edges.
- Don't worry if you don't know the story.
- Stay true to your style. Keep it simple.

April Grand Prize
Something that often comes up when I ask for advice on the grand prizes (and if you have ideas, please feel free to email them to me at Cropsplus@ourcropsplus.com!) is to give away items that may be costly, so it may not be something people have. With that in mind, our April Grand Prize will be Copic Markers! SO popular, but very expensive, these markers can help you create beautiful shaded works of art. This set contains 36 colors, chosen specifically with paper crafting artists in mind. An excellent "beginner set", this set contains the following colors: 0,100, C3, B00, B02, B05, B45, BG05, BG09, BG10, BV00, BV04, BV08, E00, E04, E33, E37, G02, G07, R20, R29, R59, RV13, RV21, RV34, V12, V15, V17, Y02, Y06, Y21, YG11, YG63, YG67, YR00, YR04 A $200 VALUE, we are sure this prize won't disappoint!

As a special 'Thank You' to the croppers who attend each event, we allow them to register for any and all future events. That means that sometimes the crops can sell out before they are open to the public. That happens to be the case for the rest 2014 events! All of them are now sold out.
We are so grateful for the continued support and loyalty. We work very hard to make sure we provide a fun and enjoyable crop. I take your suggestions seriously and hope to give you the best that I can do. So THANK YOU!

April Crop + Annual Food Drive!
Will you help?
We have been truly blessed to enjoy a hobby we love and friends (new and old) to share it with. To give a little bit back, every year, we hold a food drive at the April Crop. You can win special tickets for every item that you bring! Those raffle tickets will put you in the running to win a special prize worth $50!
We will be donating the food to Link, INC, a charity that exists to provide emergency food to people in need in the Herndon, Sterling, and Ashburn, Virginia communities.
More information on what items Link, INC is looking for will be sent to each registered cropper with details. Here is a picture of some of the food we were able to donate last year, over 400 pounds!

Reminder: Holiday Inn Dulles!
Moving forward by going back!
I have mentioned a few times here in the newsletter, Facebook and on Twitter, we will be returning to the Holiday Inn Dulles for the April, September and November 2014 crops. I have heard from many of you and feel this change is for the best. The Holiday Inn is now offering a program that I think you will enjoy. The great food you know (and LOVE!) that includes coffee during the evening breaks and a more extensive breakfast on Saturday mornings and the wonderful Sunday brunch. You will get the larger 6x3 tables with cloth covers, a dedicated classroom (which was not offered before), $74/night room rates, privacy afforded in a venue with one ballroom and all at a lower price point than what was being offered at the Hyatt. The hotel information is: 45425 Holiday Dr Sterling, VA 20166 (703) 471-7411
