July Scrapbooking Tip
Transparencies: Use and repurposing
Have you ever purchased a set of acrylic stamps and have not been sure what to do with the clear plastic sheets the stamps are stuck between? Or do you have a stack of transparency sheets that you always thought would be cool to work with, but are not sure where to start? How about the top sheet to that old Cricut mat you just threw away??
Here are some ideas that could get some creative juices flowing! - Using Staz-on ink (or other permanent solvent-based ink - no dye or pigment based inks) stamp an image directly on the plastic
- Use Stickles
- Rubons
- Apply alcohol inks (try a stamped image with alcohol inks applied for a stained glass window look!)
- Put the printed top sheets into a binder for a handy reference to your entire stamp collection
- Use your die cutting machine to cut out clear embellishments (also try using Staz-on or alcohol ink on whole sheet before cutting)
- Emboss
- Make clear gift or pillow boxes
- Use as a window on card
- Use as the base of a card
- Print directly on them as a journaling box (for inkjet printers)
- Paint edges for a cool frame or overlay
- Create a clear pocket to hold memorabilia
- Cut out the images of the printed stamp top sheet and use directly on your layouts
- Heat emboss
Since they are completely clear, almost any adhesive you use will show through. These ideas might help you avoid a messy look. - Look for places where the transparency will be covered by other items such as photos and embellishments
- Brads
- Staples
- Thin layer of Zip Dry glue - this will be slightly visible, but dries completely clear
- Eyelets
- Hinges
- Hatpins
- Page corners
- Paper clips
- Sew onto layout with fiber
- Tie down with ribbons

Sept and Nov Crops - SOLD OUT!
Registration for 2012 starts in October!
Both our September and November crops are completely sold out. We have begun wait lists for both events. If you are interested in joining either wait list, simply register for them here: http://www.ourcropsplus.com/registration.html
Registration for our January 2012 event will begin at the end of October, so make sure to keep an eye out for the registration to open so you can get your seat before that sells out, too!
Those lucky enough to snag a seat at either the September or November crops will be able to register for any and all 2012 crops before registration is open to the public online. |

Registration for January begins in October.
We are very excited to announce our 2012 dates! We will have 4 dates at our usual Holiday Inn in Sterling:
Jan 20-22, 2012 (3 day)
March 24-25, 2012 (2 day)
May 19-20, 2012 (2 day)* Special event, see below
Sep 14-16, 2012 (3 day)
Nov 2-4, 2012 (3 day)
Online registration will begin 3 months before each event. However, crop attendees can register at each crop for any and all future events. If 2011 events have shown us anything, it's that these 2012 events WILL sell out!
Also, we will be hosting a 5th event: A special "mother/daughter" 2-day crop at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Alexandria, VA May 19-20, 2012. A PERFECT Mother's Day gift, this is going to be singular event with fun times for mothers, daughters, sisters and friends alike ("Mother/daughter" groups can consist of anyone! Friends, sisters, aunts, cousins, etc) Young croppers age 8 and older are welcome and will have a special section of the room. Highlights include: hotel rooms INCLUDED in the registration fees, a 'pizza and pajama party', specialized classes/contests/prizes for our younger croppers and other fun surprises. We will have a special web page and registration form dedicated to this event later in the year.

July Sketch Contest

 Every month in our newsletter, we publish a sketch. Any scrapper who feels inspired by the sketch should create a layout based on the sketch and post it on our Facebook page. You can also email your layout to us and we can post it for you if you do not have access to Facebook.
Layouts must be posted by the 21st at midnight Eastern time every month. Voting will start via poll on Facebook on the 22nd through the end of the month. The winner will receive TWO My Mind's Eye paper packs, including double sided cardstock and cardstock embellishments, worth almost $20! |

Featured Vendor: Club Scrap
Sandra Campbell
 Sandra Campbell, Club Scrap Consultant and Crops Plus vendor for the past 3 years, has recently learned that Club Scrap will be discontinuing their consultant program as of July 31, 2011. Sandra has enjoyed a great ride with Club Scrap being able to bring you great products and classes with beautiful exclusive papers and stamps for the past 3 years. It is with great sadness that she has to discontinue her business and will no longer be able to serve you as a Crops Plus vendor. However, Club Scrap will still be around and will continue doing what they do best, creating gorgeous monthly kits, rubber stamps and paper projects. While we will miss Sandra greatly as a vendor, she'll still be around as a cropper and friend! Sandra is in the process of liquidating all inventory and in appreciate of your support, she is currently offering all in stock inventory at 20% off.
