May Scrapbooking Tip
Visual Triangles With photos, accents, letters, and more adorning our layouts, it can be overwhelming for our eyes to take in all the little details on a layout. But there's a simple trick to keeping the eye focused on all the elements. That trick is called a visual triangle. A visual triangle is created by placing three related elements on your layout in a triangular fashion. You'll want to place these elements around the most important items on your layout-generally the photos and the journaling. By creating this triangle, you'll help the eye stay focused on the most important elements of your layout within a virtual boundary. You can create a visual triangle in many ways, including using three of the following: - blocks of the same color
- elements of similar shape
- accents that are alike
Here are some prime examples:

Autumn Baldwin created a visual triangle using three teal blocks to unify her layout across two pages Leigh Penner created a visual triangle using three scallop circles to focus the eye on her photos and title.
Kristin Rutten created a visual triangle using three identical cream hearts to focus the eye on her photos, title, and journaling.
You may find this technique helpful if you don't consider yourself to have a very strong eye for design. This approach can enable you to arrange key components on the page and then easily link them all together in a triangle of color, embellishments or accents.
