Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I am looking forward to my
first informal office hours of the season this Saturday, September 19th at
Main Street Bagel in the City of Fairfax. This is a tradition that I started in 2006 and is a great opportunity for constituents to raise issues of interest or to learn about what is going on in Richmond. The format is casual and coffee is on me.
Please note that the event will take place from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., which is earlier than usual.
Can't make this one? I will be holding informal office hours on October 17th at Jireh Bakery and Cafe in Centreville and will be announcing additional events later in the fall.
Update on I-66
This morning, I participated in a VDOT briefing on the recommended design concept for changes to I-66 outside of the Beltway. This includes 25 miles from I-66 to Route 15 in Haymarket. The recommended plan includes two express lanes and three regular lanes in each direction, space in the median for future expansion of Metro, safety improvements at key interchanges, expanded transit services including new park-and-ride lots and bus service, and corridor-wide pedestrian and bicycle improvements.
You can find more information at a
special VDOT web page dedicated to the I-66 project. This includes a
short video that provides an overview of the recommended improvements.
The recommendations will be presented to the Commonwealth Transportation Board in late October. You have an opportunity to weigh in at three public hearings scheduled for October 19th, 20th, and 21st. More information on the meeting locations and how to participate can be found
here.
