Prayer of the Day

Almighty and ever-living God, you anointed your beloved Son to be priest and sovereign forever. Grant that all the people of the earth, now divided by the power of sin, may be united by the glorious and gentle rule of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Missional Gathering "Sister Act"
resources and more available online

Those who attended our fall Missional Gatherings under the theme, "Many Voices, One Song" enjoyed the opportunity for conversation, especially around the clips from the "Sister Act" movie.

The PowerPoint presentation with the embedded clips, as well as the scripts and questions, are available for download. Go to this link for access to the documents in a shared Dropbox folder.

Advent 2015 Resources from "LEAD"

"LEAD" equips leaders and churches with coaches, immersions, and resources. During Advent 2015 "LEAD" has created a series of resources for Advent, including weekly Advent worship resources with bulletin covers that can be colored by participants and then merged together to create a colorful small mural when complete. Take part in coloring as a unique spiritual practice.

Find all of the resources at this link. Be certain to scroll down the page to find the worship resources and also various graphics for reproducing.

Four Motorcycles to be purchased for Companion Synods!

Success! It was the goal of the RMS Companion Synod Committee to raise $10,000 to purchase four motorcycles, one for each of our companion synods in Northern Madagascar. So far the Rocky Mountain Synod has raised over $14,000, which will purchase four motorcycles! Success!

Thank you for your support! These motorcycles will allow pastors in Madagascar to travel to congregations in remote areas. The pastors who receive these motorcycles will also be able to further their effort of evangelism throughout Madagascar, which is part of the mission of the Malagasy Lutheran Church. If you wish to support the mission of the Malagasy Lutheran Church by contributing to Motorcycles for Madagascar, please send a check to the Rocky Mountain Synod with Motorcycles for Madagascar in the memo line. Again, thank you for your support!
One final conference gathering!

This year's Missional Gatherings in each conference will help us explore our theme for the year, "Many Voices, One Song." The church is made of many voices, and each voice is as distinctive as the person or the community that sings it. The wonder of the project is how the voices all come together to make one song.

"Cornerstone" volunteers needed for youth gatherings
Cornerstone is an important piece of the High School and Middle School Youth Gatherings held each year by the Rocky Mountain Synod. As Cornerstone you will help facilitate the gathering experience from setting up for the weekend, leading a bible study, setting a safe environment for participants or simply being a good listener and friend.

Cornerstone is the foundation for the gathering and their help is greatly appreciated by the planning team and those at the gathering.  If you are interested in being apart of the Cornerstone Team for the Senior High Youth Gathering, November 20-22, please e-mail Eric Plothow at or Kathryn Seyfarth at for the application.

Consider an end-of-the-year gift
to the Better Together Fund

The Scriptures remind us that we are the Body of Christ, woven together for the sake of our witness to God's love and grace. As members of the ELCA we claim the power of being Christ's Church-Better Together.

At our Rocky Mountain Synod Assembly in May the Synod Council announced the Better Together Fund, an opportunity for those passionate about our shared ministry as a synod and as a global church to set aside one dollar a day (or more) for the foundational work we do together. Learn more and give a gift online. Currently the amount raised is over $36,000!

Gifts may be given online, or send in a check made out to Rocky Mountain Synod. Gifts of appreciated stock are also welcome, providing a smart gifting strategy. Send an email to Kent Mueller to receive information about giving a gift of stock.

During the final months of your, many of our organizations invite special gifts. In Colorado, December 8 is a special day of giving. Be watching for additional organizations registered to receive gifts on that day!

You can make a huge difference by providing funds for camperships, summer staff salaries, site improvements, and much, much more. Mark your Calendars: December 8, 2015.  24 hours to Give Where You Live!  You can schedule your gift now at

Today, at Lutheran Family Services, our Foster Care case managers will visit with children who have been abused and neglected. They will visit with unaccompanied refugee minors who have come to the U.S. without parents. Today, our employees will be a host to people from all over the world who have been uprooted by persecution. They will welcome the refugees, help secure employment, teach cultural education, but most importantly, work towards self-sufficiency.  Today, at Lutheran Family Services, we will walk with the vulnerable.

Through these programs and many others, we provide services that heal, strengthen, and provide hope. We need YOU to walk along with us. On Colorado Gives Day December 8, please consider supporting LFS and the most vulnerable in our communities by donating. You can schedule your gift now at Today, you can make a difference.

Learn Emotional Intelligence skills at Joy Ranch
Florence, South Dakota, January 4-8, 2016
Emotional Intelligence skills are essential for effective ministry within a congregational setting. These are those "people" skills that support clergy making meaningful inter-personal connection with congregants.

These skills can be learned or increased by some intentional effort that is accompanied by straight feedback from other people.  The EQ-HR workshop is a highly experiential event within small groups of 8-12 participants with 2 trained facilitators where such feedback can be obtained.
