Prayer of the Day

God of heaven and earth, before the foundation of the universe and the beginning of time you are the triune God: Author of creation, eternal Word of salvation, life-giving Spirit of wisdom. Guide us to all truth by your Spirit, that we may proclaim all that Christ has revealed and rejoice in the glory he shares with us. Glory and praise to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever.

ELCA YOUTH GATHERING

Youth will participate in revitalizing Detroit at youth gathering

Living on a block with an abandoned home or two is common for Detroiters, and the city has precious few resources for dealing with such a widespread problem. Neighborhood blight is a health and safety risk to residents, attracts crime, and depresses property values.

This summer, during the 2015 ELCA Youth Gathering, youth will participate in Detroit's neighborhood revitalization efforts by boarding up abandoned properties, making neighborhoods safer and healthier for the residents who remain.

While youth will provide the labor, we are in desperate need of supplies. If you know of a building supply company that could donate 4 X 8 OSB boards, please contact [email protected]. You can also donate toward the purchase of supplies by going to www.elca.org/Gathering
