NEW MEXICO and EL PASO, TEXAS

Youth Gathering - We Are Church, Better Together!

The Border Conference is working together to send 14 youth and 3 adults to the ELCA Youth Gathering.  The Border Conference includes churches in Southern New Mexico and El Paso.  While these youth have been working hard to raise funds in their own congregations, they are also visiting the other congregations in our Conference to ask for their support of prayers and finances.

On March 15, Youth Gathering participants visited Peace Lutheran in Las Cruces and gave a wonderful presentation during worship about their upcoming trip.  Although Peace does not have youth participating, the Church Council offered to match congregation member donations up to $1000.  The congregation members gave over $1200 to support the Border Conference Youth!  We truly are church, better together!

After worship on the 15th, that Youth Gathering group joined with youth from Peace and hiked up Tortugas Mountain for a fun picnic and study on creation. (Picture on the top of the mountain.)
