Assembly weekend worship resources to be provided for congregations
Bishop Gonia will provide a printed and video sermon for use in congregations May 2 & 3 while clergy are at the assembly on that weekend, including Sunday, May 3.
The assembly falls over a Sunday this year to honor lay persons who must otherwise take off an extra day of work to attend. Worship resources are almost ready that invite congregations to bless extra bread and wine the previous week for distribution when clergy are at the assembly. (This closely mirrors our protocol for the distribution of communion to those homebound or ill.)
The resource will offer suggestions for all congregations throughout the Rocky Mountain Synod to share in a common liturgy and hymns that are based upon the assembly liturgy on Sunday, May 3.
The resources will be available later this week and be distributed in a special emailing.
Ceremony of Celebration
The Rocky Mountain Synod is gifting a property long-used by the Four Winds American Indian Council to the organization on March 28
Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. (corrected time), the site of First Bethany Lutheran Church (which closed in 1973) will be returned to an American Indian organization called Four Winds, which has used the site as a community center for decades. All are invited to this Ceremony of Celebration at 5th and Bannock Street, south of Downtown Denver.

Sky Ranch leadership training opportunities for High School youth
Youth Go!
Youth Go! is a two-week leadership training program for High School youth. Campers return to their congregations empowered to lead and serve from their week that includes: community building through high and low ropes, a two night backpack trip providing time for prayer and reflection, in depth Bible study and worship planning, visiting some of the program specialists, service projects at Harvest Farm (run by the Denver Rescue Mission helping men with addiction), helping to lead worship and a 24-hour silent retreat.

Staff In Training
It's not a job. It is an attitude! For those who wonder what it would be like to work at Sky Ranch, this newly restructured program is designed to give you the knowledge and skills needed to be on summer staff. Everyone interested in being a staff in training will participate in a week of training on June 14-19. Everyone who completes this week of training is then eligible to volunteer up to three additional weeks throughout the summer, shadowing and working beside resource staff and counselors, as needed based upon the programs being offered.

This week of house building and community will leave your senior high youth with a renewed sense of their faith and a restored excitement for service. Interim Training to take place in Denver
The Rocky Mountain Synod is sponsoring a Region 2 Interim Training series, consisting of three phases. Phase One takes place June 1-5, 2015, followed by Phase Two which is case study experiences. Phase Three will be January 18-22, 2016. Phase One and Three will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cherry Hills Village, CO. This training is specifically for those who will be serving an Intentional Interim during the Transition Time in a congregation, but the skills and insights are also valuable for every congregation leader.  A member of First Lutheran, Kayla is 24 years old and has a 6 year old son. She was diagnosed with Laryngeal Cancer, and she also recently found out that she has a cardiac tumor. All are invited to a benefit dinner to help Kayla with mounting medical bills.

Mission Nicaragua Team seeks Spanish translators
Lord of the Valley Lutheran Church in Granby, Colorado is in need of volunteers for their Mission Nicaragua Team which will travel to Somoto, Nicaragua, in late June for 10 days. They are looking for 2-3 people who have fluency in Spanish and could serve as translators. One will work with a children's ministry. The other(s) would work in one of the medical/dental clinics.
