Greetings!
Assembly celebrates Rocky Mountain Synod as "Gifted to Grow"

The Rocky Mountain Synod gathered in assembly May 8-10. The dedication of the new Lutheran Center was scheduled as the opening of the assembly so that full participation from across the synod could be present without additional travel costs, and the church at the Lutheran Center was overflowing!

However, it did make for complex logistics with the dedication and the assembly back to back, especially since the carpet in the sanctuary was still being installed at 2 p.m. that afternoon! Plus, our usual assembly planning schedule was hampered by our complicated office move, resulting in some glitches along the way, Thank you for understanding that we did the best we could under the circumstances.

An assembly follow-up summary will be posted when completed, as well as additional assembly photos.

Sky Ranch seeking local
volunteers for flood relief

Sky Ranch will be taking on flood relief with close to 750 volunteers from all over the country working primarily in Boulder County. They are looking for local volunteers to serve as teachers and work project leaders. Please contact the Flood Relief Coordinator, Lisa Dunworth, at lisa@skyranchcolorado.org if this is something you'd be interested in learning more about.

In addition to lining up work for our Flood Relief Groups, they also need to coordinate materials and all necessary tools. They are looking for equipment to prepare for four primary project types:

  • Hiking Trail, Park, and River Bed Clean Up
  • Residential Debris Removal
  • Dry Walling
  • Painting.

They also need some supplies to support housing and feeding working groups.

They welcome any new or used (but in good working order!) tools that could help these projects. They hope to have all tools donated by June 1. For recommended tools and drop off locations, please call Lisa or email, our flood relief coordinator, at 970-493-5258.

Annual Holy Cross Hike is Saturday, July 19

Again this year Mount of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vail, Colorado will sponsor a pilgrimage hike climbing Notch Mountain (13,237), in order to view the Mount of the Holy Cross (14,005).  Because of the popularity of this hike and due to U.S. Forest Service regulations which limit the group to no more than 15 persons at a time, reservations are required.

The date is Saturday July 19, 2014.  The event will last from approximately 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM.  This is a fairly strenuous hike and requires proper hiking gear for a trek in the back country.

While there are NO fees, pre-registration is required.  Call (970) 476-6610 for a registration form.  For more details you can log on the church web page, www.mountholy.com and click on the Pilgrimage link.
