Beautiful labyrinth takes shape at the new Lutheran Center
Thanks to generous contributions to the "Shine God's Future" campaign, a beautiful labyrinth took shape before our eyes today in the cross tower courtyard. A labyrinth is a walking pathway in a circular design.
Walking a labyrinth is a prayerful, spiritual practice, in which one follows the pathway from the outer edge (in this case at the base of our cross tower to the center. The labyrinth is a symbol for our journey through life and that walking it can take us on a journey to the centre of our own beings. You are invited to stop by anytime and walk the labyrinth.

ADVOCACY & EDUCATION BREAKFAST
|
"The Four R's: Reading, 'Riting, 'Rithmatic and Religion"
Lutheran Advocacy Ministry - Colorado, along with the Colorado Council of Churches and the Colorado Children's Campaign, will host a breakfast on Tuesday, April 8, to explore ways the faith community can support education in Colorado.
The event, "The Four R's: Reading, 'Riting, 'Rithmatic and Religion," will be 7:30-9 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1820 Broadway, Denver. Guest speakers include Jill Hawley, associate commissioner of achievement and strategy for the Colorado Department of Education; Andy Mendelsberg, principal of Denver East High School; and Chris Watney, president and CEO of the Colorado Children's campaign.
Cost is $20 per person in advance, $25 at the door, or $150 for a table of eight. Reserve a seat online by April 4, or call Adrian Miller, director of the Colorado Council of Churches, 303-825-4910, for more information.
The breakfast is a fund-raiser for the Council of Churches' Voices for Justice Task Force, the advocacy ministry that partners with Lutheran Advocacy Ministry - Colorado to send a team of volunteers to the State Capitol to lobby on behalf of legislation that will positively impact the poor. This is a great chance for us to support this ministry, as well as better equip ourselves to serve the needs of our children.

WORLD MALARIA DAY
|
World Malaria Day is coming up on April 25 and it's another great opportunity to do something big for the ELCA Malaria Campaign. For the last several years, the ELCA observed World Malaria Day by dedicating an entire week to raising funds and awareness for our companions' programs. To date, we have joined hands in 12 African countries to help fight malaria, and we have seen great progress. This year, let's make it 13.
We are looking to you and members of this church to help take the ELCA Malaria Campaign work into the next country - Namibia. If we raise $250,000, we'll have enough to kick start programming in Namibia, the last country in our rollout plan.
Will you join thousands of ELCA members across this church and millions of people around the world in taking action? Please consider observing this day by taking a special offering for the ELCA Malaria Campaign on Sunday, April 27, 2014. Find special World Malaria Day resources that will help you activate your congregation to learn about malaria, the ELCA Malaria Campaign, our work in Namibia and more.
