Read the latest blog post from Madagascar

Our twenty-person team to Madagascar arrived in Madagascar safely yesterday. Reports and video uplinks will appear on the synod Facebook page at facebook.com/rmselcaYou are encouraged to "like" the rmselca Facebook page so you will see these updates regularly.

You are invited to use this petition in your prayers for the two following Sundays while they are on their trip, representing all of us in the Rocky Mountain Synod:

You blessed your people through all generations and guided them in life and death: Abraham and Sarah; Moses and Miriam; Peter, James, John and all the apostles; and all the witnesses in ages past, in whom your Spirit spoke and moved. Be with our sisters and brothers who represent all of us in our companion synods in Madagascar. Guide and protect them, and bring them back to us with new eyes to see the partnerships we enjoy in the Body of Christ.

Lord, in your mercy,

hear our prayer.

WEEKLY WORSHIP CAUSES PAUSE

A Holy Spirit Moment

by Pastor Caitlin Trussell
Augustana Lutheran Church, Denver, CO

For months I'd seen the invitations to come and lead worship or, at least come and worship, with the Office of the Bishop and never felt a call or pull in that direction. A funny thing happened on the way to worship on June 26.

Out of nowhere it occurred to me (code for "Holy Spirit moment") that I was on my way to worship to serve whoever showed up for worship-not me and my details but them and their need. Humbled by this timely and age-old revelation, I led worship. There were the details of worship but there was also the blessing of serving as a worship leader to those whose efforts are regularly focused on leading-a lovely reversal in a sacred space.

I know you've heard this invite before but I encourage you to come and lead worship or simply come and be fed.

Anyone seeking to adopt a beautiful tree?

The assembly tree sculpture, created by artist Tara Smith, who created our beautiful tree sculpture, is inquiring if a congregation would like to adopt the tree for display in a large space? It's 20-22 feet tall, depending on if it's on a platform, and it comes apart in many pieces for transportation. If you would like to inquire about it please email Tara.

Solar Array Dedicated
Mount Tabor Lutheran Church

Salt Lake City, UT

It's not every day that a small congregation in Salt Lake City gets to celebrate the launch of their new solar energy system. But this last Sunday, June 30, the congregation of Mount Tabor did just that.

Mount Tabor dedicated the new solar array at 11 a.m. on the front lawn after worship. This solar array was made possible by a generous funding award from Rocky Mountain Power's Blue Sky renewable energy program. "We're pleased to partner with our 37,400 Blue Sky customers in Utah to support Mount Tabor Lutheran Church's efforts to go solar," said Alene Bentley, Rocky Mountain Power customer and community manager.

This is one of just a handful of houses of worship in the state that has installed solar panels, and the first Lutheran church to do so in Utah.
