Lutheran Disaster Response recovery continues for Colorado wildfires
Thank you to the First Lutheran Women of Longmont, Colorado, for sewing and donating seven beautiful quilts to victims of the Black Forest fire. These quilts were accepted by Missie Bonser, Associate in Ministry, Trinity, Monument, to be given to the relief efforts for Black Forest.   Pastors and ELCA church members are reaching out in prayer, support and compassion. Following any major disaster, recovery is a long-term process, and your prayers and gifts are needed to assist those impacted by the fire to rebuild their lives.
Donations from people like you allow the ELCA to respond with flexibility to those in need.
Prayer and blessings for those departing for Madagascar June 29
Download and follow the itinerary.   Our twenty-person team to Madagascar departs June 29. You are invited to use this petition in your prayers for the three following Sundays while they are on their trip, representing all of us in the Rocky Mountain Synod:   You blessed your people through all generations and guided them in life and death: Abraham and Sarah; Moses and Miriam; Peter, James, John and all the apostles; and all the witnesses in ages past, in whom your Spirit spoke and moved. Be with our sisters and brothers who represent all of us in our companion synods in Madagascar. Guide and protect them, and bring them back to us with new eyes to see the partnerships we enjoy in the Body of Christ.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.   The group's itinerary and daily devotions are available so that you can follow and share in their journey. Reports and video uplinks will appear on the synod Facebook page at facebook.com/rmselca. You are encouraged to "like" the rmselca Facebook page so you will see these updates regularly. |

 Leadership Retreat & Theological Conference
 September 23-26, 2013

YMCA of the Rockies, Estes Park, CO
Gifted to Grow will be the overarching theme of the 2013-2014 year. We will gather in the prime season of golden aspen, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park, as a time for spiritual renewal, connected community, prayerful worship, and engaging dialogue. We will consider what it means to be a spiritually-vibrant leader within the context of a changing and challenging ecclesiology.   Retreat leaders and guests are:

The Rev. Louise Johnson, Vice President for Mission Advancement, Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, PA.       The Rev. Craig Mueller,
pastor, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,  Chicago, IL.
Carrie Newcomer, singer/songwriter,  Bloomington, IN.         Online registration will be posted in late June. The event begins late afternoon on Monday, September 23 and concludes before lunch on Thursday, September 26.   Who should attend? Rostered leaders most certainly, but also other leaders in the church: leaders of faith formation, youth directors, seminarians.      All are welcome! All are welcome! |
 | LITTLE JOYS  | |

First Lutheran Church, Colorado Springs, CO, is a missionary sponsor of Pastor Rimmer and family, serving in Dakar.    Greetings from Dakar, Senegal! We are very glad to send a brief update after our family has
arrived in Dakar. We are currently staying at the LutheranCenter in Hann Mariste (CLHM). And in this time of transition, we
are all settling into our new life and ministry in Sénégal. Of course, we are finding the little joys in life--a banana tree in the courtyard, the drums of worship, the call to prayer and the wonderful Senegalese hospitality, or "Teranga." We are also adapting to the little necessities of daily life--filtering water, (drinking enough water!), power outages, navigating the sandy streets in a city of 3 million people, and of course adjusting to a new climate in the Sahel region of subSaharan, west Africa. We wish you peace in the good news that because we are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, "on est ensemble". "We are together". Continue to pray for us, the ELCA's Global Mission and your friends in the Lutheran Church of Senegal (ELS) who grow in the Word and sacraments, and serve all God's children in the healing, life giving name of Jesus Christ.
On est ensemble! The Peace of Christ to you our friends,
Pastor Chad, Natalie, Paul Michael and Luke Rimmer
