Carol Kim Has a Plan
San Diego Democrats for Equality Supports the Candidate With a Plan
Carol Kim has a plan to address the growing crisis in retention and recruitment in the San Diego Police Department. In contrast, her opponent wants another study.
San Diego's police force faces an uncertain future, with about half of its officers eligible for retirement in the next few years and younger officers leaving for other agencies that have better pay and benefits. San Diego officers have seen their healthcare costs soar and are paying more into their pensions than officers from most other police agencies.
"We can't ignore the market," said Carol Kim. "How can we expect to retain our officers when they can go to other law enforcement agencies in the area and get considerably better compensation packages?"
Kim is particularly troubled by the millions of dollars the City spends to train officers, who leave for other agencies. "It's a bad deal for taxpayers," she said. "We need to be competitive if we want to reap the benefits of our investment."
We want a Council member who has a plan to fix the problem. Not one who sits back and hopes the problem fixes itself without the need to offend his campaign backers. Dems for Equality endorses Carol Kim for San Diego City Council, District 6

Remember, Our October 23rd Club Meeting Will Not Be at Joyce Beers
San Diego Democrats for Equality is all about electing equality supportive Democrats to office. For that reason, we will not be holding our regular monthly meeting at Joyce Beers Uptown Community Center.
Instead, we will be meeting at the campaign headquarters of our Priority Campaigns for the November 4th election - Carol Kim (San Diego City Council, District 6) and Scott Peters (52nd Congressional District).
This could be the most important meeting the Club has all year. Be there! Get Out the Vote!

Is it Time to Re-Up?
The Club depends on membership dues to keep the lights on and promote our candidates and issues to the community. A large number of community members depend on our Voters Guide to help them make an intelligent choice when marking their ballots so your membership renewal is critical to ensure those Guides get into those hands. If your membership has lapsed or if you know you're membership is soon to expire, please re-up now. You might also consider upgrading your membership to a higher level.
You can find out more about the Club's membership levels and benefits online HERE. You can also renew with a credit card there. If you would prefer to use a check, send the check, made out to Democrats for Equality to:

Club members Speaker Toni Atkins (78th Assembly District) and Kevin Beiser (SDUSD Trustee) could use money and/or time over the next few weeks to get re-elected, and we've got a full slate of Statewide and local candidates who need a hand before the election.

San Diego Democrats for Equality Petition
"DA Dumanis has a long political relationship with DeMaio having endorsed him for election previously and having received endorsements and fundraising efforts from him. The DA has recused herself previously when there might be a conflict of interest. We ask that she asks the Attorney General to step in now."
You may be aware that District Attorney Dumanis has already decided to send the message that her primary mission is to protect her Party by declining to prosecute any of the Republicans in Carl DeMaio's drama. We continue to believe that the only way to restore a sense of equal justice for all from our local law enforcement is for this clearly conflicted District Attorney to request the Attorney General take over the investigation. Our petition remains up and you can sign it by clicking on the image above.
