Mapping Out Our (Near) Future
Busy Weeks Coming Up for Dems for Equality
Club Meeting - Thursday, August 28th
Thursday's meeting is an important one. We will be finalizing our endorsements for the November General Election. This includes an opportunity to take a look at State and local propositions on this Fall's ballot and take a position.
We will also be nominating and electing two members to the Club's Board as well as taking a position on the City's recently enacted Minimum Wage/Earned Sick Leave ordinance.
Social time begins at 6:30 PM and the business meeting starts at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held at Joyce Beers Uptown Community Center, 3900 Vermont St (across from Trader Joe's) in Hillcrest.
Please plan to be there and make your voice heard. More info HERE.
Sunday Funday Democrats Walk for Scott Peters
You've heard by now that Scott Peters is in a very tough re-election race with he who shall not be named. We've been invited to help put Scott over the top on Sunday, October 31st. Precinct walking begins at 10AM. Calling begins at Noon. And, when walkers get back from canvassing, the campaign will break out BBQ and mimosas.
We all know how important it is that Scott Peters is returned to Washington. We also know that Republicans are trying to convince voters that their candidate is the face of the LGBT community. Make it a point to come out and show the voters that the Republicans are wrong. Canvassing (both walking and phoning) starts at the Peters campaign headquarters at 4719 Viewridge Ave, Suite 130, San Diego CA. 92123.
Help this important cause and have a good time doing it.
San Diego Democrats for Equality Picnic
Share food, conversation and a good time with your fellow members at the Club's annual picnic in the park. We will be at the same spot on Morley Field in Balboa Park (Upas St. at Texas) as last year's event. The Club will provide drinks, plates, cups and utensils. We ask you bring a dish to share - and it's probably a good idea to bring a lawn chair and sunscreen.
Sunday, September 7th. Noon - 3 PM. More Info.

Freedom Awards is Coming
The Freedom Awards is San Diego Democrats for Equality's premier event to recognize the contributions of our members, others in the LGBT community and our allies. It's also our largest fundraising event during the year. We're getting down to the business of planning our next Awards and need your help. If you can help make sure the next Freedom Awards is a success, please drop us a line HERE. We'd love to have your expertise, desire to get involved or just your elbow grease. We'd love to have you.

Club Seeking Two Additional Board Members
Dems for Equality adopted a By-Laws change that called for two "at-large" Board members. Board members must be members in good standing of San Diego Dems for Equality. At-large Board members are expected to attend monthly and specially called Board meetings, as well as manage special projects as requested by the Board.
If you are interested in election to the Board, contact us HERE.

AIDS Walk San Diego
Join the Dems for Equality Team
San Diego Democrats for Equality will once again be walking to raise awareness - And FUNDS - to combat AIDS. The walk is on a Saturday this year. Specifically, Saturday, September 27th. AIDs may have changed from the days when we lost many members, leaders and friends to the disease, but it hasn't gone away. Join us in walking to see that it does go away.
You can join the Dems for Equality walking team by clicking HERE. Click "Join an Existing Team" and enter San Diego Democrats for Equality at the Team Name prompt. Enter your personal information and start raising money for this good cause.
If you can't walk yourself, you can still support the team by donating to the team members who are walking. We'll provide a link for that soon!
